Still a Beetle, and still looks like a Beetle, but it's their way of trying to get people who wouldn't normally look at a Beetle, to take a look.

That sounds reasonable. Otherwise, they wouldn't be saying, "The 2012 Beetle : Coming Soon." I also think you'll see the "New" moniker dropped from the model, and it will simply be the Beetle.

I like most of this new design as it isn't too significantly different than the "current" NB, but it feels like the bumpers are sticking too far out. They should be closer to the main body of the car for aesthetic purposes.

I hope they didn't lost any headroom, though. Even though I am average height, I love having all the headroom and shorter windshield will make it harder to see traffic lights.
