Default The Vw New Beetle 2

Its official guys!! That name has been copyrighted, similar in fashion to the Vw Touareg2.

So while no official photos have been released from VW to the public just yet, VW has officially announced that we, in America (sorry International friends...) will be the first to see it live in full view at the Los Angeles Auto Show this year, which takes place from November 19th through the 28th.

Going by previous big releases for Vw, don't expect them to say anything until that date. But closer to it, we may start to see pictures of the camouflaged car, similar to how we did with the new mk6 Vw Jetta.

So if you guys see pictures like this of the new new beetle: (AUDI A1 PICTURED)

Don't freak out because thats Vw hiding the car from us until the final version is ready. Those are rough drafts of the final car... You didn't hand in a rough raft of a paper with scratches all over it to your teacher when you were in school, did you . In this case, vw is the student and we're the teacher

The good folks over at the sebeetles site are also anticipating this car also!

Is it just me, or are you guys also excited for November 19th?

Oh, and you guys remember this drawing?

Well, a lot of the major magazine are posting the same online pictures of this

While not a real car, it does look like a real version of the first and most popular drawing which I think is pretty cool.

I don't like the front a whole lot on new rendering, but I love the rear and the fenders!! But the more I look at it, the more i'm starting to like it!

Finally, with Vw releasing the 2.0l 8v, aka the 2.sl0w, again in the new 2011 Jetta, I'm 99.9% sure that this engine, as well as the 2.5 and 2.0T, may see use in the new beetle. The TDI however is still up in the air.

I think VwoA should ask us what we want over here on the nations greatest New Beetle site.

...Because it matters more to us than anyone else, am i wrong?

I hope they keep the curves, i dont like the edges in the hood, or the lack of roundness on that prototype thingy.

The Original Beetle's roof wasn't completely round either

That would be perfect! They won't though because they aren't asking any owners what they would like to see in the New NB. It would make too much sense to do that.

I think NB2 is somwhere in between these images. IMO widening the hood and rear deck (for praticality) loses major Beetle flavor. Looks like a square hood with rounder corners.

Rear view doesn't look Beetle at all, tail lights need separation from the trunk

JMHO, Beetle was never an efficient layout, lots of storage space wasted ie tiny trunk and engine bay (old and NBs combined)... but that's why the world loves the iconic shape. NB2 is going mainstream - slowly turning into just another car

Those pictures disgust me, haha

I surely hope that the Beetle doesn't end up like that. It looks like a traditional compact car in the rear. And those TAIL LIGHTS.

How sad.

The tail lights are funky, but other than that, I could live with this body style. Really, it's not that much different from the current NB. At least on the exterior. For a name, New Beetle 2 makes sense, provided VW shows will now have classes for NB1 AND NB2, similar to Mk I, II, II, IV, V, VI and air-cooled Beetle 49-57, 58-67, 68 and up, etc.

Oh no way! Those taillights need to be round!....and they CANNOT integrate into the trunklid like that...absolutely not! The rest of the shape is ok, so long as they round off the leading edges of the hood a little. It's too square where it meets the front bumper....the hood edges need to be rounded and pulled in a bit from the headlights. It's a Beetle damnit. Don't try and reinvent the egg or you'll ruin it.
