I'm quite sure that's real, my friend.
It's nice, too. But, damn, can you imagine the accidents that thing (and others like it) will cause the the repair cost if that things goes crazy?

My god. I'll buy a new VW again when this comes out. I am in love.

This is quite real and the future: may as well get used to it. I hate it too, most people can't talk and drive or use their ipod and drive. There isn't anything you can do about it, just get used to it and enjoy it while you can. I can't wait, but that's because VW is smart and following Apple's lead in design and the car had a FIREWIRE port! How cool is THAT?

The setup in the video definitely has the look of a prototype. The interface is clunky. You wouldn't want to try to read the screen for either the command options or your incoming messages. It would benefit from voice control and the ability to have it read your incoming messages.

In any case, the vehicle should be sold with an extra liability insurance package.

Yep, the real deal, many people have been putting pc's in theirs cars for some time now, and touch screens are nothing new, not to mention microsoft has XP designed for the tablet pc, which essentially is what you see in the video and programs like dragonspeak can also allow you to write or actually speak your email, although they used a different interface to accomplish that, which wasn't that sophisticated though.
