Default Heater and Air System Problems '01 Beetle

So we've my wife's NB for almost a year now and it has reared its ugly head on why it is the battle bug. The heating and air conditioning system has progressively gotten worse since then. When we got home with the car, we noticed we couldn't change the air flow gates to move the air from feet, body, both, and defrost, and it was blowing some dark green/gray foam out every now and again; but that was okay because the heating and air still worked. So the first question is how do we fix that. Once summer got here we noticed that the A/C would only work every other time we started the car up, and sometimes we would lose the A/C or gain the A/C after driving around for a while. Question two is how to fix that. The final question is now that winter is here, the heater never really heats up, and like the A/C sometimes after driving around, it will randomly turn on, but it will never be hot like heaters are supposed to get. SO therein lies the last question.

I checked the coolant and the reservoir and the radiator are at normal levels, but the coolant is a blue green color. Isn't G12 an orangish color? Hopefully that is the easy fix to that problem if they dont have G12 in it. lol

Same issues here. Search blend doors. You have to take out your entire dash and make new doors to fix the problem. Too much work for me, luckily ac always works but heater almost never heats up

This may sound funny but start with your cabin air filter. If the p.o. took it out and didnt replace it cold air from outside will come in. don't ask me how I know. While you're in there clean out that big cavity with a vacuum cleaner then take your blower and blow out from the inside an in from the outside a lot of that gray matter will blow out. You'll be amazed at what kind of stuff is inside there. And if putting a new cabin filter in there doesn't help your heater then you have a thermostat stuck open it needs to be replaced. If you want your heater to work good
