Desert Protection Package on New Beetle

What is this? I just bought a 2012New Beetle traded in a 2008 Beetle.

Could not find and info on what it is.....Cost 695.00 on window sticker......What a joke....

Any ideas?

Such things are usually dealer add-ons, and usually a rip-off. Not unique to VW, lots of "Desert Protection" packages being added on cars by dealers in the desert SW. And there's really no way to know for sure exactly what it includes, since it's whatever the dealer wants to make it. An "extra-special" paint protectant, upholstery protectant, Armor-all on the tires...any ol' thing they can do to rip you off. I've seen them as high as $1400 a pop in Arizona, and it's probably only $5 worth of wax.

Sounds like typical stealership scumbaggery. Ask for a detailed printout of what it is, and don't make final payment until you are happy. If you didn't ask for it, don't pay for it!
