Default NewBeetle.org Charity Toy Drive

Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Every year, there are underprivileged children who do not have the luxury of being able to sneak to the Christmas tree early in the morning and look with amazement at the gifts sitting there waiting to be opened. The magic of Christmas is something that should be shared with everyone. It is with this thought that we, the moderators, have decided to participate in the 2005 Christmas toy drive organized by the Scion enthusiast web site: Scionlife.

For every one Matchbox/Hotwheel car, or one dollar that is donated, the Newbeetle.org toy drive receives one point in the standings, and a child can wake up to a toy car to drive around on Christmas morning. All proceeds will be going to a charity of Dyned's choosing.

Here are the official results from Scionlife

Why $5.00 you ask? Well points are tallied for this contest in Matchbox/Hotwheels cars. One car equals one point. These cars cost about $1.00 from local toy stores. Paypal hits us with a small fee per transaction. The $5.00 will covers approximatly 4 cars, tax and PayPal fees.

NEWBEETLE.ORG TOY DRIVE DONATION PROCEDURE

Donations will be accepted from November 28th through to December 16th.

PayPal donations:

Donate 5$
Donate 10$
Donate 15$
Donate 20$
Donate 25$

A big thanks goes out to Dyned for graciously offering to collect, purchase and donate the cars to a charity of her choice, If you wish to mail your donation please contact Dyned for her address.
2005 RULES

1. Each website will administer their own toy drive and report their running grand total daily (or as often as possible) to admin@scionlife.com.

2. "Points" are determined by the amount of toy cars that will be donated at the end of the contest. We are using increments of $1.00 or one individually-packaged Matchbox/Hotwheel car to equal one point. If you have five cars and three dollars at the end of day one then you would report eight points. Don't forget to buy toys with the money before the end of the contest!

3. Although all toys are welcome for donation, for the purpose of equality only Matchbox or Hotwheel brand toy cars in individual packages will earn onepoint. Multipacks of Hotwheels or Matchbox cars will be worth HALF the number of cars in the package. Off-brand toys will not be counted in this contest. (In the past we had people buy 50-packs of very cheaply made toys to get ahead)

4. The contest begins on Monday, November 28th, 2005 and ends on Friday, December 16th, 2005. The last tally by 11:59PM PST is your FINAL score.

5. A photo of all toys contributed at the contribution facility or loaded to be delivered needs to be emailed to admin@scionlife.com by each website by Monday, December 19th! If a photo is not sent in by that time the website is disqualified from the contest. (You can't wait to donate until the evening of the 24th or the kids won't get their gifts!)

cool! well, i've already donated. i love this kind of stuff. the older i get, the more i want to be involved in charitable donations during the holidays. i already have so much to be thankful for in my life, and it's easy to forget that so many people have little or nothing. i know i always joke about being poor, but anyone who drives a beetle can't be that poor!

kudos to the mods for putting this together. thanks much!

There's no apostrophe before an 's' when you're talking about the plural version of a word. "I took some neat photo's!" is NOT correct.

Alright - I've donated as well. I grew up pretty poor - and I remember what a big deal saving up just to buy a single hot wheel car meant to me. I hope the kids enjoy theirs!

I'm giving out rep for everyone who donates - so be sure to post if you give!

I would like to donate a case of cars. I have a few at home. I am not 100% sure i can, due to the shipping. I will talk to my boss and see if they will allow me to use the Pitney-Bowes machine for free. If they will, i will certainly send it. I hate to make promises so don't count on me, but i want to help and to look into this a bit further on my end. I collect Hot Wheels, well i used to, now it's just VWs. I can put together a case of about 50 cars easily.

Perhaps post a mailing address for a situation similar to this? Just a thought. I'm going to email the president of the company right now. Either way i will put a case together and check the shipping cost.

(fingers crossed)
