How easy is this to remove when you desire to perform a wax treatment on your car?

I'm guessing it is like the 3M clear bras, you don't remove it. It is attached to your car. The reason you need it professionally installed is because of the compound curves. You wouldn't want to have to run back to the shop every time you wanted to wax...right? LOL

Just make sure you find out what the proper care instructions are for maintaining and cleaning it as well as the warranty. We had a club member's 3M bra that failed, but I think it was due to improper cleaning techniques.

You can wash, wax, clay, etc to the clear bra. A wax actually provides an extra layer of protection. The bra is only meant to be removed by the pros. You don't remove it every time you wash or wax your car. (that would get a little expensive....)

After my mom had one intalled on her Lancer, there was no way I was driving Daisy off the lot without one. The dealer had the clear bra put on before I took possession and included the price in my loan. It's so worth it and much better than a black bra.

Default Clear bra.....

I had the entire kit: hood; front bumper; left and right front fenders;head light bezels; front of both mirrors; the concave of outside door handles; and the top of the rear bumper, where there is just a small slot in which to place your fingers to fully open the trunk.

Anyway, I bought a new 2007 NBC and in October of the same year I had this entire 3M kit put on. It was pricey for the entire kit, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Cost me $842.00. Much cheaper than a new paint job after getting all those rock chips in the hood, fenders, mirrors, etc.

I used to have a '78 Rabbit(wish I still had that car)and I had a black bra onit...worst mistake I ever made, well one of many bad mistakes I made. The vinyl bras look neat, but that's where it stops. In all actuality, when ever it rains you are to remove the bra. Condensation does wonders to paint. Also, if the wind gets under it and the wind WILL make its way under the bra, the wind will buffet the hood and you will end up with nasty looking lines across the hood. And one other note...they look like ca-ca when they get torn.

I highly recommend the 3M kit to anyone who has a bug. IF you love your bug as much as I love mine...you will treat it with kindness and respect.

Yes it was a tough pill to swallow, but I figured in the long run it would be less expensive than to have the front sanded down and repainted...after picking up a couple years of road rash...from those damn dump truck drivers that do NOT run the canvas cover over their load of dirt or gravel...... I ONLY have Henry out for the warm months. Up here in the "tundra" this would be from May till October31st.

I'm not sure how this other product stands up to the 3M product, as I've alsways relied on 3M products to be the best and then too...does this other shop offer the "entire" coverage package as well?

I went there over the weekend. I'm really happy with it and the price is more then fair. Gary and his staff are really nice and even though I wasn't sure I would make it there on Friday, they were willing to meet me on Saturday when they were closed. So I appreciate they would have accommodate my time knowing that I don't live in So Cal. I would definitely recommend them and already have to my friends in the area

I'd be curious to know EXACTLY WHAT AREAS they're putting the film on for $350.00?

I recently had this done on a new Acura from the dealer.
They covered the hood, partial front fenders on the sides and top, a heavier film on all the lights, the side mirrors and all door edges. Total cost was like $500, but of course a TSX is much larger car.

This really only pays if you do it when the car is new, or just painted, otherwise you just put a clear sticker on top of chips that are already there.

As part of the RUF BUG STAGE II Upgrade, we repainted several areas on the car, and then clear-filmed them. Obviously, you need to let the paint set up / cure before doing this. We hit the entire front clip, which was a bear because of the shape of the Turbo S front end. I also needed to find someone who was really good, since I insisted on having it all in one piece (no seams):

We also did the chin spoilers:

And the tops of the front fenders, lights, front hood, and fronts of rear fenders. All pieces had to be "custom made" (for example my hood emblem is shaved):

Total for everything came to slightly over 800 bucks. Cheaper than repainting the car, plus I have the pleasure of being able to drive with a "pristine" front end. I have to tell you, there's also no greater joy than being able to drive and not worry about road chips destroying our "very suseptible" front end. Maintenence is a breeze. Just wash and wax over it as if it wasn't even there.

You can check out the complete results on the RUF BUG thread. (Link below):

I totally agree. When I repaint mine, I am doing the same.

Now I just have to find a guy like yours that can do it in one piece.

Mine's goin' on two years, and is PRISTINE!

Not sure the abuse a "Motor Home" must get is a fair comparison.

Your prolly right, parked in a heated garage,2006 diesel with about 12k,the abuse

Its taken on trips here and there to keep 'er goin.I just don't see how it could happen so fast. Now it needs the front end repainted.

I'm not against this product by any means, just a caution

Sounds like either a bad product or installer or both.

Most the the new clear film is formulated specifically so it won't "yellow".

If you've got spots growing UNDER the film, my guess is that the surface wasn't prepped properly before the film was applied.
