I recently fell victim to a blown tire on the highway which I was unable to avoid. I tore up the front end of the car (plastic mesh mostly) and damaged the front bumper beyond repair....I think. I also managed to puncture a fuel line, but that is fixed now.
I have a 1998 2.0 with no original fog lights. Can I purchase a turbo bumper w/ fogs off of a '99? It happens to be the same color as my car also, so if the paint has as similar fade I wont have to get it painted. Can you let me know what is involved in the conversion process and are there any other pieces that I will need to purchase....like the head light switch, etc... Or would it just be better to get one of these cheap bumpers online with no fogs (like my original) and get it painted? Let me know what you think Thanks for the info ![]()

There is no such thing as a "turbo bumper from '99." The bumpers are all the same from '98 to 2005 with only minor functional modifications, not styling. There is the Turbo S bumper, which was made in the '02 and '03 MY's. The difference between having fogs, and not having fogs is a package difference, not having to do with a turbo.
You can indeed buy the parts to convert to having fogs. You can also convert to have a Turbo S bumper, which is what I did. Also...to convert to the new '06 bumper you would at the very least have to exchange the fenders, and probably the fender liners as well. Good Luck!

NICE BEETLE!
THATS WHAT I WANT TO DO TO MINE, CONVERT TO THE TURBO "S" STYLE LIKE YOUVE DONE. WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR BUMPER FROM? http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog...t_product=1563 THATS WHAT I WAS LOOKING AT GETTING INSTALLED, BUT I LIKE YOUR FOGS |

I got the bumper on eBay, $200 shipped. That was a good deal. Those are the OEM grills for the "S" bumper, the fogs are $19.99 @ Wal Mart, but look and fit GREAT!! Here's a better look at the fogs.
and here's a thread where I go into more detail about my bumper. Turbo S Front End Let me know if I can answer any questions. ![]() Rob |
