Other than installing an expensive HID kit, I think that Sylvania Silverstars are the best bet. They are about $20/bulb, but they are the clearest and brightest available. I have put them in all of my cars for years.

Before you install silverstars (which are def. the easiest way to get much brighter light) read this: My Bug Eats Headlights

They've got much brighter light, but you have to decide if buying new ones every 3 months or so is worth it.

Let me just add that the thread suggested above is one of many over the years. I tried the bright bulbs twice, but changing them every 8 months was a headache, since maneuvering the headlight assy out of the car is req'd.
After all that swearing, I went back to OEM.

they take four of the same bulbs, right? so that's $80 for all four for the sylvnias. ouch!

can somebody provide a part number or link to a place online that sells em? i don't want or need the HID kit, just some brighter, crisper bulbs. although since i replaced the headlights, the same bulbs seem brighter. one of my high beams is burnt out so i jus thought i'd upgrade in the process.
