Exclamation Hood Emblem.

Like any other NB, the hood emblem is peeling off. My NB is a 2002 2.0 Model.

My Question is how do you remove it and what alternative emblem would fit there other than the OEM ones?

Some pics would be appreciated.

Thanks

Look at YeloJkt's hood .... remove fill and paint. I know there are more that have done this.

Thumbs up

Thank you SilverSportNOLA,

YeloJkt has one fine ride. I love the shaved Hood emblem.

But i'd rather to keep it, to avoid a paint job. Is there any other VW emblem will fit the NB.

Any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I think it's vinyl. I tried to get blue for mine but the color didn't match. Someone here can make those for you. I forgot who did mine

There is a how to here .... it think ScarabY2K did it. If I keep mine, it is coming off and the background will turn RED before it goes back on.

When mine started peeling. i just carefuly pried it of the hood. picked off the chrome with an exacto. painted it. put some extra strong 3m dubble sided tape on the back and slaped it back on the hood. i love it.

OOOhhh, you have the flat emblem..hmm.. Yeah, my new one has a flat one too. Less wind resistance I guess. haha. I would suggest maybe looking on ebay for a brand new emblem. They should have ones on there that are the plain silver and black as opposed to white and blue.

Looks like you have what they call the Euro Emblem ... I have seen people make vinyl flag emblems for it.

Marvin would look good with that, hopefully he will not need to be reflamed.

Thank you very much all for the feedback, comments and the offers .

I have contacted VW dealer. The replacement is going to cost me around $25 and the labor around $60. I guess i have to do it myself to save the labor charge.

Thanks again all. You guys have been very helpful.

$60

Do it yourself. Takes maximum of 10 minutes for the front

Gave me an idea and painted mine last night. Looks cool on a Black Bugg

Good Luck

Get a closeup of that one on Blugg ... it does look cool .... but is catching a reflection. Is it the reflection, or can you still see the VW on the emblem?

YOu can still make out the VW through the paint as the front emblems are pronounced.

Sorry but still get reflection around the rim. I'm painting it gold soon or toying with the idea of having a circular decal on top of some description
