Default Installing Eyebrows on a 2007 NBC

Hi Everyone;

I'm hoping that one of the more experienced members of the forums might be able to help me out.

I am attempting to install a set of eyebrows on our 2007 New Beetle convertible. However, even when comparing the eyebrows to the headlights on my 2003 New Beetle, I can't see how on earth they would attach.

Here is a picture of the eyebrows that I purchased:

Any help that you guys/gals can offer would be greatly appreciatd.

Thanks;

Peter

Since the shape of the 2006+ headlights are slightly different, they probably won't fit or if they do, they will be slightly off. The rounded part at the bottom of your picture goes at the top of the headlight. There should be a right and a left side. Work it out on your 2003 first and then see if you can make it work on the 2007.

Good luck and post pictures when you finish.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I just went outside and had another look at the eyebrows on my 2003.....and here is what I found:

Are the eyebrows supposed to fit over the headlight lip?

Thanks;

Peter

Anyone??

I was wondering if I would need to heat up the eyebrows to make them a tad more pliable...

First, those are eyelids, not eyebrows. They will fit flush against the headlight, not stick out or if they stick out, it won't be by much. All of the second group of pictures are not how they would be installed. The should lay flat on the headlight. The "straight" side (the bottom edge) will run diagonally across the headlight. Think about how your eyelids work and look on your eyes.

See the page http://www.newbeetle.org/forums/show...ghlight=eyelid for how they can look or do a search for eyelid and see the various flavors that people have.

No one has found one yet for a 2006+ beetle because of the shape of the headlight which is different from the 1998-2005.

Eyelids tend to look "angry or mean" or "sleepy or dopey". Angry eyelids will run diagonally from the top across to the bottom like this: (\) (/) or sleepy eyelids will look like this: (/) (\). The rounded part of your eyelid will be flush against the top of your headlight. You have to rotate the eyelid to determine the best fit. It will only look good one way and fit correctly.

So I just went outside...after the realization that I am a complete dope....and found that the eyelids WILL fit the new style headlight...the only restriction is that you don't have as much freedom in the positioning of the eyelid.

Hey Everyone;

I just thought I would post a couple of quick pictures showing how the old style eyelids fit on the new style headlights. I have not mounted the eyelids permanantly yet, rather I did a "test fit" today to get an idea as to how they would look on the convertible.

Long story short, once the eyelids are painted to match, I think that they will really add to the appearance of the car.

Here are some pictures of the test fit session:

I will follow up with more pictures once I get everything painted and looking purdy!

As far as attachment goes, any advice as t what I can use to secure the eyelids to the headlight?

Thanks;

Peter

Those look similar to the ones that I purchased, however mine are not carbon fiber....they are just plastic.

I actually don't see the ones that I bought on eBay, howeveer I think that TMTuning sells them (albeit, slightly more then eBay).

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

I am trying to figure out the best way to secure these, since they didn't come with any sort of instructions, adhesive or suggestions for installation.
