Default Rear Spoiler?

Next on list of my mods is Bobby's Spoiler...
Looking around, what would anyone think of these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VOLKS...em140219540207

OR

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-07...em350040873539

Or would it be better I not use ebay for these?
The second link offers custom paint job before shipped after I purchase it???
Help?!?

Thanks

As I'm looking, I found an autoparts warehouse website, that seems to be a little less sketchy for a little more price.
Paint to me isn't a problem with something as small as a spoiler, any body shop should be able to do that for me...

Check this out:

What do you think?

Yeah I thought those straight square looking things for ricers would look pretty strange on a NB...
Still thinking the 4th one

You will pay more to get a spoiler painted at a body shop than the extra it is to buy it in color. I bought one for my wife's Jetta 6 years ago from spoilerdepot.com? (I think) We are still satisfied.

Not to throw a wrench in the works, but does your car have the built in spoiler on top of the rear window?

I was curious as to why my car didn't have a rear spoiler below the window, so I did a little research, and found out they were put on the early turbo models, but that the cars became very unstable at high speeds when the spoiler above the window opened, causing several crashes, so they were removed from these models. Darn! Darn! Darn!

I did just recently find out that I do have the automatic spoiler that pops up when the car goes over 50 mph, and then goes back down at approx 10 mph when slowing down. I think I'm actually going to just disable this if I decide on the lower rear spoiler. It makes a loud clunky noise when it goes back down anyways.. quite annoying every time it happens, passenger's ask me, "is that a dead body in your trunk or what?!!?"

Sounds like alot of hooey to me. I haven't heard of any ACTUAL crashes attributed to having dual rear spoilers.

That said, yes, vw stopped authorizing dealerships to install them.

I know that many people w/static & automatic rear spoiler combos say it seems "about the same" at high speeds; but you also have to consider that "high speeds" means 120+mph anwyay.

Anyway, that aside; I guess everyone doesn't see it as the awesome feature I do. I mean how many consumer cars can change their aerodynamic features mid-drive? (consumer as in less than $70K)

I have the roof spoiler and I added a spoiler. In an undisclosed location I found my car was still stable at 150 mph with both spoilers.

Where do I get that wing? Normally I hate huge spoilers, but that just works!

It is the Erebuni wing. I got mine from http://www.erebuni.net/ but it looks like they are have a liquidation sale going on and and I am not seeing the wing listed any more. It took me a long time to track it down before I found it about 3 years ago.

Default Nice

I do like that huge wing also! Alot of the ones I found didn't look very good with the beetle's rear end.. but now I'm reconsidering a larger one.

Question for everyone:
The automatic top rear spoiler that pops up.. Doesn't anyone else's make a very loud noise when going back down to it's original position? It's such a loud noise it's obnoxious. I don't know how I could make it less noisy.. Any ideas at all?

Mine does on occasion but I just regreased the slides and it quiets down. Why you hear is more going down compared to being deployed is when it is deployed it is one motion. But when it retracts it is in a series of abrupt steps. To see this have the car on and have someone hit the switch under the dash.
