Default Aftermarket Headlights

Has anybody installed this aftermarket "Euro" projecter headlight kit on their Beetle? My '98s headlight plastic outer lenses are beginning to deteriorate and I'm going to replace them. I saw these online and thought they might look pretty cool on my techno blue. Opinions are welcome.

I tend to agree. The light output will really suffer as well. The projectors in those headlights are horrid.

Have you tried refinishing/polishing your headlights? Autozone and others sell headlight restoration kits that work very well. Basically it is 3-5 different grits of sandpaper. You progressively wet-sand them down to the finest grit. Then use the supplied polish and your stock headlights will be looking MUCH better.

I had considered polishing, but not only is the plastic deteriorating, but the rubber seals are beginning to break apart too. So, I'm going to pop for new ones. Actually the more I look at the aftermarket ones, They look just a bit to rice rocket-like. Thanks for your input folks! (or is that Volks?)

I called the dealer. They want $395 for each assembly - OUCH!! Found aftermarket ones for $160-$170 each, then found a company in SoCal thats liquidating inventory. Bought OEM for $190 each - much better.

Go to Ebay and search "volkswagen new beetle headlights". About 20 or so items will come up. Keep scrolling down into the Ebay stores portion of the page. They're about a third of the way down. It's the only place selling OEM, all the others are aftermarket. I believe it's some sort of German auto parts place, rather than a dealer, in Northridge, California. Let me know if you still can't find them - I'll go back to Ebay and find the link again for you.

Okay, I went back to the Ebay sight. It's in an Ebay store called fivestar007. It would appear they have more. There is another sight selling OEM but they're high priced.
