That depends on the width of the wheel, the tire size and the axel of the car. Plenty of combinations fit (too much for me to write down here), which one do you want to mount?

I believe this is the size of the tire: 225/45/17

It's a 98' VW Beetle, im not sure what trim, it's a 2.0L Petrol.

ET42 should fit, but you could definitely use some spacers to make them look right. I ran 5mm spacers on an ET32 wheel so you'd probably want 10mm front and 15mm rear spacers.

Why put 10mm on the front with 15mm in the rear? wouldn't that make it look funny, making the back tires look wider? It's not like its rear wheel drive.

You have no friggin clue do you? The rear wheels are set further into the fenders so a wider spacer out back evens it out.

Also the rear tires are mainly responsible for the car's ability to keep in track... Wider tires in the rear (and a wider track) allow you to take corners way faster than with smaller tires...

I always thought it was the front wheels (in a front-wheel drive car) that had the greater influence on cornering.

I'm also looking for spacers and so far all pointed to H&R brand.
they're not cheap but the best out there.

Last night I saw ECS on eBay, $107/pair of 17mm, bolts included.
I want to go with that, but still hoping for H&R.
