Default which wheels would be best 05 conv

I am looking at two sets aftermarket. One is pacer 18x7.5 42mm offset and the other is 18x7.5 35mm offset both have a 73mm center bore so i guess i would have to use hub centric rings correct? Would both work fine or would the 42 ones not work? Any help would be great.

Patience, grasshopper.

Wheel choices are VERY subjective. What looks good to you may not look good to everyone else. Go with what looks best to you.

No, it's because you're being a spaz that nobody helped you out with this question. That is to say you can't expect an answer within four hours of posting, most people here surf this forum from work and don't really check it every second. (which is why I'm getting to your post now.)

To answer your question, the et35 wheels will look better because they won't be as sunk into your wheel wells, they'll sit right at your fender and you shouldn't have any troubles with rubbing. Anything less then et35 and you'll risk rubbing.

Check out the wheels thread, it'll give you a lot of good ideas.

Chill out. Your thread title implied there was possibly a picture or two for people to look at and compare. 17 or more people looked at it and probably realized they couldn't answer what was a more technical question about offset. Most people don't understand the offset issue. If your title had been more like "Which offset works best on the 05 vert?", it might have been more helpful.

BlakeS is correct about one thing - not everyone surfs every minute. Four hours is not very long given that many people cannot surf constantly from their jobs.

Congrats for figuring it out. I personally prefer 35et but that is me. I also prefer a wheel that fits the hub correctly. The hubcentric rings work, but if you don't get the wheel on correctly, it will make a horrible noise and potentially damage the wheel. I had this very thing happen to me in 2002. I ditched the wheels soon after for a wheel designed to go on a beetle/jetta/golf instead of a wheel designed to fit a variety of cars.

I love it when a newb acts like a newb and then wonders why people treat them like a newb, and then call themselves a newb. Smart.

What does gender have anything to do with it?

To make things more simple on yourself, do some searches, you can find plenty of information about offsets and wheel sizes on these forums. As well, you will find many people willing to help you out if you're willing to let them help you.

Happy posting.

Due to the NB axle design, what you want is more offset in the rear than in the front, that way the front and rear look about the same. The smaller the 'et' number, the more the outside edge of the wheel is set from the axle.

I used a slightly staggered set-up, with 19x8 et40 in the front and 19x8.5 et35 in the rear, but u'll get the same results with 18 inch wheels. If you use the same width wheels front and rear, say 18x7.5 et35, then u'll need a spacer in the back to even them out. If you can get the same wheel, then I think your suggested set-up in your first post may work perfectly, with the et42 wheels in the front and the et35 wheels in the rear, with no spacers needed. However, I don't think u'll get any 'poke' at all, and most modders like a little poke.

Thanks for the great info , I love your BUG! It looks SOOOOO good. Where did you get the script cabriolet for sides, also the exhaust? As for the wheel help, I wish I had gotten your reply the other day. I already purchased wheels, 18x7.5 and et35 I had seen this size in a stock wheel, I believe it was the Take5s , maybe that was the ones but a stock size in one of the wheels offered at some point. I ordered hub centric rings for them , but do you think thats not going to work , I thought alot of people used them for aftermarket wheels on beetles? Also if The hubcentric rings wont poss a problem , what size spacer would be needed for doing what you suggested since Im using the same front and back .....

Script: www.bugsgogo.com

Exhaust is part of the body kit from Caractere, just Google it.

As far as spacers are concerned, locate a local tuner shop and have them try a few sets on 'til u find the exact look u want.

Hubcentric rings automatically come with any wheels that need them to fit your model car.
