Replace headlight on 06 bug with LED one

I have a friend who has a GTI and i noticed one of the bulbs in his head light fixture is blue. So I asked him what he did and he said it's easy you just replace the certain light with a blue LED one from an auto parts store. then he looked at mine and said it would be hard to do on mine because there's a lot of stuff in the way. has anyone done this before on an 06 bug? I'm trying to replace the bulb that comes on when you turn your headlights on (not the daytime lights or the highbeams)

This can also be the city light that some 2006 models, or are you talking about the lowbeam itself? Are you sure he did use an LED bulb, or was it that he used a HID bulb?

It would be the city lights if it has them. The DRL is the same bulb as the lowbeam. You also can't get a HID bulb at autozone, it takes a lot more than just a bulb for HID to work, you need balasts and all sorts of other sutff.
