Default Steering wheel Emblem

In the past, I've seen several people looking for steering wheel badges. Mine has always been scratched from the day I bought my car, so I always wanted something to cover it up, too. I found a couple of stickers, but they always wound up coming loose at the edges, because they were flat. The emblem area is rounded...

Here's one I've bought from an eBay seller. It fits great because it's actually rounded on the bottom and makes a flush contact. It has 3M sticky on the bottom of it. It's a Wolfsburg emblem. It's only 45mm, but if you line it up in the center, it works. The seller is from China, and has "more than 10" to sell.

If mine hadn't been scratched, I would not have covered it, but...

Yes, if it were slightly larger, and covered the entire area, I would like that better...I still prefer the 45mm badge to a scratched stock one, though.
I guess a new steering wheel is the ultimate, albeit expensive fix.

Actually you would need a new airbag module, which would probably cost more than a new steering wheel, I'm suprised there isn't some kinda fix for this. Luckily for me mines still in good shape. Just wonderin how did yours get scratched? And have you thought about trying to polish it out? That may be an option. Got me thinking now, gonna go look at mine a see what it's made out of..........

It was scatched already when I got it. Maybe a anti-theft device or something?

After looking at my emblem, it appears to have a suitable plastic coating on it. You could try and polish yours out. Depending on the depth of the scratch will depend on the amount of effort on your part it will take. If you have minor scratches, scuffs, etc. you can use Novus Plastic Polish on it and it should remove these, the amount of effort invloved will depend on the scratches. If they are deep scratches you may actually be able to sand these out using various grades of sandpaper, with final sandpaper being at least a 2000 grit followed by polihing with Novus. For those of you that have never heard of or used Novus look here.

novuspolish

I orginially heard about this product from some model building websites as to how to polish out a paint job on a model car, and it works as well as everyone said it would for that. It also works amazingly well at cleaning your headlights as well. I rrecently redid mine and while not perfect they look 100% better than they did. I have found most Harley dealers sell this. I got an 8oz. bottle for like 7 bucks and I've only used about half of it. It's a worthwhile product to try.

It is 5.5mm and it is rounded. I just gently removed the metal VW portion from the plastic wheel center cap component and stuck a bit of molding tape on the back. It was super easy and is the perfect shape.

haha. i was driving down to florida on friday and had this exact thought. my caps don't like staying in the wheels on their own so i had the in the car with me. was looking at the steering wheel thinking "hey! I bet those are about the same size!" the center cap from the wheels are iddy bit bigger than the steering wheel one, but looks like it'd be okay.

i got my wheel ones here: 1-VW NEW BEETLE or JETTA BLUE CENTER CAP HUBCAP 16" 17":eBay Motors (item 320358153738 end time Oct-05-09 07:37:34 PDT) (seller is rock7000 , for when that auction goes bye bye) just got another one to use myself.

What I did was buy a set of 5 and use the extra for the steering wheel which is currently eBay item # 220446060723. I looked at the black and silver ones and they look like they would work just fine (see item # 350250682017). They seem to be just a different color version but the same part. Just be cautioned when removing the the emblem from the plastic portion it is glued to as it can be tricky and it is easy to dent the emblem. Hope that helps!

When contemplating mod to the steering wheel emblem contemplate that this mounts on your airbag and will likely explode into your face in an accident. So, try to duplicate weight of original as closely as possible and don't really glue it on any more securely than the original.

Default Where can I get a blue emblem?

Noelle, Where did you find the blue emblem? That looks so cool. My emblem on my jetta is all scratched . How did you remove the previous emblem on the steering wheel? Was it easy?
Thanks!
