Thanks for all the complements. And not to break a trend, I am in Amarillo TX (that might be familiar to some of those in the UK -- think Tony Christie) not Canada. As for those marker shells, I am glad I painted them. But, suspect I could have adhesion problems in the future. Someone posted something like "those markers seem like an afterthought" and I wholeheartedly agree. Those things represent the lowest cost method for bringing the european spec. (sans lights) bumper to the US market. If you have any time and cash, carefully consider your options when deciding what to do regarding the lights. I chose to paint them, but I obviously have a shortage of cash and patience.
I really appreciate the welcome to the forum, this place has been an invaluable resource on more than one occasion. Since I am leaving tomorrow on a vacation to San Francisco, my responses might be slow. But I could try and answer any install questions regarding this bumper kit anyone might have regarding the install. Im no expert (for sure), but I'll try and help.

Welcome to the Org! Your new bumper looks really nice. I like the painted marker housings. I am still not sure what I am going to do yet, but that gives me one more option to consider. Glad to see that you made it work.

Add me to the list of votex owners...just ordered my set this weekend Im excited.
Funny thing is some folks here seems to think everyone will have this look and it will get played...but there are still way more regular beetles on the road. Though at shows it will be nothin over the top...on the our local streets we are all somewhat unique.
I have yet to see a turbo s in my area let alone votex equipped

(clickables)

Here are a few other angles of the bumper. The car is kinda dirty, but it is too cold/I'm too lazy to wash it. I did have to polish the bumper, it got a little hazy. Threw some wax on it so it would look shiny, then every neighbor I have never talked to stopped to laugh at me and tell me of the winter storm scheduled to roll through here this weekend. Anyways, enjoy.

I noticed that quite a few people have purchased this bumper kit, but I cannot remember anyone mentioning installing it. I am curious of what issues people have ran into. For example, the wiring adapter stuff comes with what they call "instructions" and a tool is needed (not included) to complete this part. Between the lack of a "VW Terminal Ejection Tool" and the confusion of the instructions, 4 - 5 hours were added to the job. I am kind of a noob at this sort of thing though. It would make me feel better to hear other people p*ss and moan about this install, cause I sure did.

Thanks Yello_Jellybean, I am happy with how it turned out.

Why, why, why, why did VW cut marker holes in the front bumpers.

To meet U.S. DOT requirements.

Yes, but a complete fail regardless. I would have paid a big premium for an "offroad use only" version.

Just got a call that my rear Votex bumper came in the dealership today. 60 bucks. They were not sure if it contained the diffuser or not though. Still kicking myself for paying out the ass for the shipping of the front bumper, but you live and learn. Once painted, headlights and wheels come in I will be installing front and back bumper.

If the dealership is out of diffusers for $29 (the one with cutout for exhaust), this guy on eBay still has diffusers with NO cutouts for $75 ...
