Don't worry, everybody is going to have to spend a lot of money to get the corners shaved to look like yours. You're golden

I guess so. It has and will happen though. Im not too upset, I truly do think it is one of the better options us beetle owners have as far as face lifts. Too many companies try to revive old ideas that just don't flow with the beetle.

im not against sharing, but there is really nothing to share. It was all drawn out by eye on the hood and we just went to town on it. The only true measure/ aligned part is that the far driverside line follows the line of the inside bracing. Thats about all.

Cool- thanks

I'm gonna grab a hood on the cheap from here, and take my time and do a hood for Cup. I've always admired your hood bro

Ok enough of copying poor Josh.

Does anyone know if there is a rear license plate holder for the Votex kit? I want to rig up some kind of setup with rare earth magnets for the rear license plate and a holder might make things easier.

Votex rear license bracket is Home Page > Search > 1C0807847CB41 > ES#297922 BRACKET - 1C0807847CB41 , but the VW dealership has them as well, part # 1C0807847CB41

I only mention the dealer for 2 reasons, the first time I called ECS they said they were out of the bracket, but it's still listed 2 weeks later.. so maybe they found more. And 2, the dealership won't charge shipping. So. Either way.

1stvwparts.com has them listed at $12.65.

Also, as for license plate mounts.. I'm looking into hideaway license plate gear. There are motorized and non-motorized versions, so when you are parked or at a show, you can stow your license plate out of view.

YouTube - Hide Away License Plate By EXOTIC CUSTOMS!!!

Do some Googling, the terms that work are retractable, hideaway, stowable, each of those terms comes up with something different.

Hey I was thinking of mounting my plate by the back window inside and leave the rear clean.
If it's properly displayed with a bracket right on the rear shelf.
Do you guys think that it would be a heat score with the cops?

A guy in my area got a ticket for having his plate mounted that way and it was even lit properly at night.

The hideaway plate would be a great idea but with the diffuser it would look really weird i think.

Yeah I guess that would look weird with the diffuser..

About the rear inside mount. What is the big deal anyway? Especially if it's lit up too. I mean, I've seen lowered pick up trucks with the tailgate totally shaved and the plate on the rear window. How is that any different?
Anyways, it probably depends on the cop and how he's feeling too!

Except that some of these hideaway plate brackets bring the plate up in an arc, so that means you could have it mounted under the bumper, and when it flipped the plate UP, it would bring it up between the diffuser and the bumper, so it would look perfectly normal. Well, it SHOULD.

Due to some unfortunate events at where I have my bumper located I have to put it on sooner than later. Sooner meaning tomorrow morning. Economist, bugasm or anyone else who has installed the bumper, any tips? I'm thinking of covering the signal lights that stick out from the bumper in vinyl or getting them heavily darkened and just using the other lights as signals to not have to go through the wiring issues. Any tricky bits that I should be looking for?

MiG btw: My buddy that owns a TS in Toronto got stopped for having his front plate sitting on his dashboard. I also will not be installing a plate on the front and just take the "Plate Tax" if I get pulled over.

I have my rear plate mounted inside of my hatch with a bracket coming off of a headrest. I truly do no want to drill my rear bumper and have actually looked into the magnet idea myself. The flip up will be hard to achieve as their isn't enough room between the bumper and the diffuser to actually "flip" the plate into place. But it would be possible to make a bracket that slid up through the opening.

As for installing the front, mine was no harder then an OEM front bumper, but I also have all of the lights shaved so its a little different process.
