Default Decisions, decisions!! Which Rims to choose?....

Hi guys! Getting ready to buy new rims and tires for Bubbles But I have no idea which ones to get...I like them all!! So I was just wanting some opinions on which ones everyone thinks would look best on a Platinum Gray NB. And should I stick with the original sized 16's or take 'em up to 17's?

gunmetal set on the far right..... Or the first pair on the top would be second choice...
I really dislike how the other ones have all those fake bolts... And the black ones on the bottom ...just no

well, if it were me... Choices choices....

I do like the gunmetal on the far right with the polished lip, and the one just above it to the left with the black center, polished lip, and fake bolts is not bad (I'd drive em)... and on the bottom row, in the middle of the 3, I like the black wheel

It might help to have spokes to go along with the rims to have a complete wheel.

The faux-multipiece silver wheels on the bottom row seem rather nice.

3rd one on the bottom row, at least 17" but 18" if you can afford it.

Hm.. those are nice too yah. I also forgot to mention, I would go with at LEAST a 17. I'm trying to sell the 17's off my color concept right now so I can get some 18's or 19's. Go with a bigger wheel, lower profile tire, and then YUM

Thanks everyone! I liked the two black ones on the bottom row (still do :P ) but now I'm thinking they look a little too "tuner-style". They look good on my friend's 300ZX, just not my NB..... Now the top 2 I'm leaning towards are the top middle gunmetal gray one and the one on the far right.

Thumbs up wheels???

I like the Top Left...the bottom right is similar with the fake bolts...the fake bolts look like a pain to keep clean!

Does anyone know about what the weights are of any of these wheels? I am looking for 17"....maybe a "safer" wheel for a part of the country with lots of pot holes in the roads??

Think about how easy to clean the rims you decide on are. Depending on your brake pads you will be cleaning the rims more or less often!

Gun-metal colored rims will hide the dust better. I used to have a set of Ariettas (GTi 1.8t rims) that were reflex silver and trust me-they were never clean for very long. And they had so many spokes I did not enjoy cleaning them...

I have a set of Evoke rims on my MKIV jetta wagon and they've been good to me too.

16s will look silly, 17s are the smallest a beetle can take in an aftermarket wheel, and would only work if you were stupid low. if you're stock height, you should probably just stick with a stock wheel.

16's is what 2.0's came with STOCK, same with most TDI's to my knowledge.
They came with 16x6.5 wheels, and P205/55HR16 rubber.

So, out of curiosity, why do you say that 17's are the smallest aftermarket you can get? Because hundreds of people with aftermarket 16" wheels would be horrified to know their wheels that they have don't fit

17's and 18's look better in my opinion, but 16" aftermarket WILL fit unless you have upgraded brakes like on the 1.8T.

I believe she said 17 is the lowest it can take, not what you can get... and was probably speaking aesthetically, goof! (also an opinion about looks, not facts about functionality)

sorry, didn't mean they wouldn't fit. of course they'll fit, even 15s will fit, but they will just look silly. that's a lot of tire and a small wheel on a fat little bubble car.
