Yes but,
The TomTom uses a different type of mounting mechanism that wouldn't be possible to duplicate the same way I make the Garmin mounts.

I like this design, but I don't think it'll work well with my DROID's Mount. However for the intended product it should be rather nice.

Really like the new mount. Looks more OEM then the first one. Let us know when it goes into production.

The bracket to hold the droid will fit, yes, but I have a screwing nut that locks the bracket to the rounded ended of the mount. I can't turn it quite like the Nuvi can turn on this ball mount. So for me, with the particular bracket I have, the passenger could make full use of the phone but I couldn't tilt it to an angle that would make it easy to view from the drivers seat.

Mig, do you know of any universial holders this will work with?

I'll be getting a Zune 30GB on Wednesday and i'd like to use this if anyone knows of a holder this will work with.

New to the forum, just saw this post.

I think the main disadvantage to the grab bar mount is that it would force you to look down and over. We have a Garmin on a beanbag on the dash and that level works great.

Would definitely consider buying a vase mount "IF" it was taller and didn't block the air vent. Here in AZ, we need the air vents blowing on us to survive the 100+ temperatures. LOL

How about one for the iPhones for the bud vase. I have one I pieced together out of an older Belkin cup mount, but it's a bit too narrow. Works great for my 2G and oldeer iPod.

I have a Zune 30 myself, with the Soundgate car stereo adapter, and I have found a cool solution. It's the Belkin TunePower for the Zune. It is an external battery supply, but my battery was shot in it so I took all the electronics out, and then it came to me; This is the PERFECT mount for the Zune. With the button gone on the back, it leaves a nice little hole in the back (about 1/2 inch across, and a just shy of a half inch deep to a little brace that holds the electronics firms while you press the button. the total depth of the back is about 5/8's of an inch.) for the ball on Mig's mount.

This is where I need your help Mig. how big is the ball on your GPS Mount for the bud vase (larger than 1/2" and smaller than 5/8" is PERFECT)? maybe I could get it to fit snugly in place (has to be pretty darn tight, the Zune 30 is a pretty heavy instrument of enjoyment). If it's too big I could maybe shave some of the ball down for a perfect fit, as long as it isn't hollow. If it's too small, maybe you could be interested in making a TIGHT fit cup for the unit, Mig? I could drill out the button hole for the cup, and if you put a little flat piece on the back of the cup, i could screw it on the inside of the homemade mount.
=D I'm so exited, breakthrough ideas that only making driving funner.

ALRIGHT! perfect size...
I sent you a private message Mig. Wow I'm excited!
If we can get this to work I am expecting greatness. I like the original mount Mig made for the bud vase, and have noted that with the GPS, it blocks the air vent, but the hole is on the bottom of my new dock, so I perceive it'll place most of the Zune above all obstructions. I feel like an engineer. =D
Once all is said and done (If it works) I will post pictures of my achievement.

Default Better, but hard to see.

I have been looking for a mount that would work like the one in my 2008 MINI Cooper S. They hit a home run with their optional removable GPS system. I would pay mad money if VW had something like this for the Beetle. Its lacks greatly in this department. Gotta love the TDI.

Done for a while. Sorry for not getting pictures in so long. I completely spaced it, but anyway, hee are the photo's i promised.
All i did was unclip it apart, widened the hole a little, put the ball of the mount into the hole, spend an hour and a half working a rubber grommet (from the local hareware store)around the arm of the mount so it help tighlty, clip it all back together, then took the sodering iron to the clips to ensure they wouldn't unsnap on the road. It holds better than expected!

OHH, and in case your wondering, the zune is connected to the monsoon system by an adapter kit from soundgate (made by Kicker) and it plugs into the CD changer spot on the raido. Sad to lose the CD changer, but 30 Gigs of music is well worth it!
