Default Audi TT stainless dash vent surrounds, etc...

Good day,

I'm considering a couple of possible interior modifications for my 2008 S, both of which would incorporate pieces from the Audi TT. I know I've seen the thread somewhere before, but are the vent surrounds difficult to install? Also, is it possible to install the TT's gear shift gate (the round one)with its rubber boot while retaining any of the stock NB interior pieces? In other words, would this be such a major modification that the entire center area would need to be retrofitted or otherwise require massive surgery?

I greatly appreciate any assistance you may provide. Thanks!

I've wondered before if the HVAC controls are the same..

I had the TT dash vents in my car 5 years ago and I didn't like them.

SMG - I've given what you've said considerable thought. Perhaps I should hold off...

The car never feels the same inside again IMO. I hate ghetto mods and that is definitely what this became for me. For starters it would be a real challenge to hook up the vents to the HVAC system since they don't fit to begin with, so even though they appear to be part of the console you're blowing hot (or cold) air onto your headunit. That isn't a part you want to change temperature quickly by blowing AC onto it in the summer or hot air in the winter. I even tried to connect the TT vents with flexible dryer vent and that just went badly.

I dunno, the NB has a decent quality interior and stuff like this really screws it up IMO. Some of the best money I've ever spent was going to the junkyard to get a new center console to replace the one I destroyed doing this.
