Default R Line Pedals Not Fitting Right

Just got my R Line pedals today, and all of them fit but the accelerator. The old cap and the new one are not even close. I am stubborn so I still tried to get it on, until I ran out of day light. I fit the old cap back on in about 30 seconds, so it is not that I don't know how to get it on there....

I am sure this has something to do with my car being a very early 98 beetle. I know there are some mark III parts in my mark IV. My car is more like a Mark 3.5

Anyone else have this issue?

If the R-Line pads are like the TT-style, you do not remove the accelerator pedal. The new pad slips over the pedal. You do remove the brake & clutch pads and replace them with the new ones.

Good luck!

I have the same problem!
But I only managed to put the clutch pedal on!
My brake pedal didn't go in so I didn't even bother trying to put the accelerator pedal. So what's the magic?

Try heating it up a little. Softer rubber works wonders. And a small screwdriver to get the rubber lip around the plastic pedal.

The brake was a pain, but it will go on. Just need to use water to lube up the rubber. I did not have water, so spit sufficed, and probably worked better

My issue with the accelerator is that the dimensions of the caps do not even seem close to fitting in one another....

I will takes pics, if I remember, tonight to show everyone.

if it makes a difference, here is a mk3 with the r line pedals so it shouldn't be a mk3/4 parts issue.
