Default LHD vs RHD Bud Vases....

When I got my Bug the Bud Vase was missing so I had a temporary one that I made out of some plastic tube. I ordered a new OEM blue one (from the US) and it arrived last week.

There is no way it's fitting in the hole for my RHD model car as it is. I never realised there was a difference between the models.

Looking at the different designs on BugsGoGo you can see the size difference but I guess I hadn't noticed it when shopping for a new one.

Hopefully I can make it fit by modding the holder on the dash. It doesn't look like it's a clearance issue so I wonder why VW have made them different.

In case any other RHD owners are looking to replace theirs, I thought I'd pass this info on.

That's bizzare. I know that ours are threaded - or at least studded. But not sure why there would be a difference otherwise...is the hole a different size?

It actually doesn't make sense. For a small universal part like the vase, why would VW make ones that are different sizes? Every one that I've seen is the same with the exception of the Turbo S vase. Post some pics of the one you got.

The one I have is the same as the one in the BugsGoGo Link I posted. 2nd row of pics - far right image. Standard OEM (LHD) plastic with little studs on it in Blue. I can't post a pic of what mine was as it was missing when I got the car but judging by the hole in the dash mount it is certainly made for the tapered/thinner ones in the same link for rhd cars.

I agree - seems weird. There should be plenty of space to open the hole up with my Dremel tool which is what I'll do.

They're different. The LHD ones are more semi circular then the rounder RHD ones.
