Nice. I thought I was on to something. Great minds think alike I guess. Did you have to do something similar to what I did for it to mount flush? I actually made the gauge closer to the drivers side so I could see the gauge a little better.

Do a lot of people do this with the beetle? I am really not on these forums too often.

Question

Nice mod, but I would think the angle would create reading problems with daylight reflection off the lens. It doesn't?

I think most use a pillar mount or dash guage pod though, adding other missing instrumentation. And the guages directly face the driver.

I have a bernt gauge pod (not in use), but I like the fact that I am not overt with the boost gauge.

I did this little project with a spare center dash I had. I figured if it did not work the way I wanted it was not big deal.

As far as glare goes, I am not sure if it is an issue. If it is, I can always build a little hood to help.

Thumbs up

Nice job on the mod (obviously not your first rodeo), from what I see you've done so far. Although If you didn't want the multiple guages I'm surprised you didn't use part of the pod to tip and aim the boost guage toward the driver. Also curious why you wouldn't want other missing instrumentation and use the multiple guage pod.

Thanks. I cannot substantiate the extra gauges at this point. I needed to look at my EGTs and boost because of an upcoming tune.

I would like more gauges, but they add up!

I didn't want to chop up my bernt pod just yet. It is too nice to hack up.

If I feel like I need to make some changes down the line I am up for the moderate challenge!

Thanks for looking!

You will be the third person as far as I'm aware to mount any gauge there let alone a boost gauge. It looks like it would be an awkward angle but it's really not at all and quite easy to see day or night.

The funniest part is that I have had literally dozens of New Beetle owners in my car and I had to point it out to them. It's that oem looking.

I didn't do anything special besides cut a hole in the dash but on the back I did have to shorten a 90* elbow and give it a little twist so I could slide the radio in properly. There is VERY little room to spare.

Good luck and I hope you're as happy with yours as I am with mine.
