console conundrum

Ok, so here I am with the ''whadda I do with this 32 oz soda'' dilemma.
I have a 2001 Beetle I call Nevil (NEVWL) and I am trying to find out the console differences between years. Before I bought my new friend I looked at a 2002 that had the sliding cupholders. Do these have issues (I dont hear much about them - everyone seems to like the 05 and later console from what I can acertain from the good 'ol net.
So, does anyone have a year by year console change pictorial?
I'm going to a you pull it in the morning and I't would help to know what I would be looking for.

The way I see it the German designers were ingenious actually. They didn't think we would have a 32 oz cup. You can fit three 12 oz cans of beer there - that's 36 oz!! silly Americans.

i put a 2003 interior in my 1999 beetle. it has the sliding cup holders. they work fine, i never had anything fall out of them and i put the occasional big cup of sweet tea in it.

I concur with Joel. I too have a cup holder made by Bugshop and am extremely pleased- I own a 2000 nB. It holds soda cans as well as the BHC- big honkin' cups- no spillage and all sizes ride well. And the beauty of the holder is that the passenger is unaffected by the holder being there. It's a worthwhile investment.

I scoured that u pull it in the driving rain, I am soaked to the bone and found nothing! there were a few older Beetles a 69, 74 and another big bumper Super Beetle. And we're talking a big salvage yard. There's the regular recycler next door to it that has all the newer stuff - but they are'nt open today.
To top this all off Maryann'e coffee dumped all over the floor because of the missing NuvaRing in the cup!
