Default 2012 Beetle LED Headlights

Anyone know if the headlights on the new 2012 Beetle with the daytime running LEDs will fit the older 2001 models?

They look pretty sharp and would love to have these put on ours.

No way they would interchange and maybe, just maybe, a little early for a mod DIY! But I suppose the headlight assemblies should be available through your local VW Dealer's Parts Dept in a few months, and for probably a grand or more, you could be our guinea pig who developes the FYI! Actually, I'd wait a year or two, when the HIDs are replaced with LEDs also.

I have read of mods that involved retro-fitting LEDs into the e-code headlights for your vintage

Hmm... Im glad I'm not the only whos thought about retrofitting those lights. My wife has a 2006 NB and I've noticed that aftermarket parts for 2006 and up are extremely limited when compared to 2005 and earlier beetles.

The lights essentially looks the same in regards to housing assembly so I wonder if it would just be a matter of vag-com? Would like to try it, but still can't seem to find them on the market...
