Eyelids for a 2006 NB

Hey everyone-

I REALLY want to put eyelids on my beetle. The first time I saw them I thought they were the most awesome thing ever. I like the kind that are more sleepy looking as opposed to the angry lids.

Only problem is my beetle is a 2006. I am having a really hard time finding them on the internet. Any ideas?

I would like them for my 2008 and I've had the same problem as you. Everything seems to stop being made after 2005.

I had to retro fit mine to make them work. I cut off the lower part that makes a ring around the lens and then stoned to top part and glued it on. You could also do them in vinyl, but I wanted the crystals put on mine so vinyl wouldn't have worked for me.

christinagray, how exactly did you get them to fit? What part did you cut off? I ordered a set of the "sleepy" eyelids like yours for my 07 and they definitely need to be modified somehow. Any details would be great!

It was really easy honestly! They are plastic and the ones for the older model years come to fit around the entire light. I cut off the part that forms the lower part of the ring so that I was just left with the top part as you see it. Just sanded it down a bit and was good to go. You may have to paint them if you don't plan on putting the stones on, but it really was pretty easy to get them to work.

Where did you order your lids from and how much did you pay? I purchased some off of eBay and they were hard to fit I thought of cutting some of the outter side off but didn't think it would lay flat. Oh of course they were for a 05 bug but when i called the dealership to ask about the difference in headlight for a 05 and a 2010 they said it is the same fit. Wrong!....A friend of mine put a indent in the center to release the tention when trying to force them to fit and it broke in the center. I have a 2010 bug and really need the eyelids to complete my look! Please heeelllllpppppp!!!!!

Mine are vinyl and I had to cut them and then overlap them a bit to get them to fit properly. I love the look though. Since I was decking her out to look like a ladybug I didn't think the crystals would give me the look I was going for. Bought the eyelashes & dots off eBay. Very pleased.

Let me know if you guys find out which ones to buy. I'm looking at some off Ebay but would like also like to know where were the ones that were easy to retrofit, would like to get some eyelids for my wife's 06 NB
