Default Chrome ring on air vents.

My bug is a 2001 and its air vents are all black. I see some of the new bugs have a chrome ring around the air vents. I WANT THAT!!! Can i just change them out at the salvage yard? Or has anyone painted them? Any ideas or help would be great. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that the chrome ring began in the 06 models. It might not fit your 01 or least the end ones might!
The centre vents are plastics welded on. Once you remove them . . . well, good luck!

DAMN!!! Too bad! I have seen people with side vents from the TT. I like that. But i sure do like the chrome vent. Maybe i can go TT on the sides and change out the whole middle dash just for two chrome rings. lol

I have the vents from an '06 with the chrome ring, I was going to sand the rings down and paint them red to go with the theme of my car.
