As far as I know; with the limited production of these cars... a NEW grill part can only be bought from a VW dealer or obviously, used from a junkyard. Are you referring to the grill in the middle, two small ones left/right or the bumper cover? If its the bumper cover; you might weigh the cost of repair vs. new/used; damage on these cars is very common, as they sit low... parking lot sidewalks, barriers, debris on the highway, etc, will damage them easily.
"VW Parts" - "Volkswagen Parts" - Parts and Accessories Catalog. has good prices on genuine vw parts (they are a dealer) Last edited by billymade; 02-12-2012 at 02:22 AM.. |

Yes, the front and rear bumpers are unique only to the Turbo S. Make sure any that you find are specifically for the S.

The link provided above didn't seem to work. Anyway, I got an estimate on fixing up the front bumper and repaint it, it came out to be $1500. The body shop recommended me to replace the entire bumper ($678) instead of patching up the old crack on the corner again. (It was cracked and patched up using fiber glass a few years ago, but it cracked again over time.) My question is if it's worth to spend $1500 for a new bumper + paint or just patch it up and repaint it. Has anyone done anything like this? I also got an estimate on the rear bumper, to repaint it will cost $650. Any suggestions? Thanks.

So here are the pictures of the damaged areas. First one was the passenger side rear end where it got scuffed from the pavement as I pulled out of a parking lot. Seond one is where the cracked corner on the lower end of front bumper that was previously patched up by the dealer (You can see the paint has chipped off over time). And the third one is caused by some random person deciding to leave a mark on my car. Just for the front bumper, the body shop wanted $1500 (new bumper + paint) and $650 for the rear end.

and I fabricated some temporary grills for the front. I am buying a sheet of 5/8 inch honeycomb grill material and fabricating permenant grills and installing led Porsche/Audi style fog lights. I will post pics when I am done. The pics below show the before and after of the grills. The final versions will look similar to the second photo.
