check out the pdf in the first post on pg 2 here: Painted Dash Done! scroll down a bit to see how to take off the little hazard switch module.

FineExampl - accrding to that thar, it's just yanking out the radio, then unscrewing a total of 8 screws. doesn't sound too involved to me...

putting it back on without scratching it is gonna be fun tho...

Ok, much like Gina (bo-bina) and John, I will be painting my brake calipers. I'm just kinda stuck on which color to do them in. Yellow or white?! Which ever color I choose will also be the color of my window decals and steering wheel spokes (and more things to come later). My interior is the black and tan color (I don't like the tan). Any suggestions?

I'm now ready to paint my steering wheel spokes. I've decided on yellow (like the DeWalt yellow). Now, I tried about 5 different stores and I could NOT find a metallic yellow. So what I'm going to do is this: primer - yellow - metallic silver - yellow - yellow - clear x3. Hope it gives me a cool effect. We'll see. If not, I'll buy some online.

Scott, since it's only interior, did you try a hobby store?? They usually have different colors than the auto stores. Figuring it's old men painting miniature muscle cars and junk.

I didn't try a hobby store (we don't really have any close) but I did try a few craft stores that cater to old ladies. But I'll call around. Thanks for the tip.

Damn, metallic yellow is not easy to find. I'm just going to order it online. Know of a good place to do so?

I went to Advance Auto Parts last night and looked for metallic yellow for you, no luck really. I saw some shiny gold, and lots of flat yellow, and some metallic-looking grey/clear paint. Can anyone think of a car (doesn't have to be VW) that has metallic yellow as a factory paint? Then you could just go to paintscratch and buy the paint for the vehicle that has met.yellow

I haven't done anything except paint the door handle covers. As soon as I find the paint I want, I'll post pics of the spokes. And later, the brake calipers.

Thanks to Gina, I found that 2004-2005 Mitsubishi Evo has a metallic yellow finish and I can order paint to match it via PaintScratch.com. Kinda expensive, but it should be what I want (hopefully). Any other suggestions are still welcome.

I used Mother's: Back to Black. Worked well so far. I'll see how it looks in the morning.

oooo shiny.

whenever i get wax on that part, i always just take a Mr Clean Magic Eraser to it, but that doesn't help it get any blacker - just takes the wax off. i'm interested to see how it looks tomorrow too.

very pro of you to masking-tape off the surrounding area too.

That's just for dramatic effect. haha... No, it kept it off the paint good. I don't know if it's good for the paint. didn't want to chance it.

Friends... I need some help.

I'm in the process of sanding the two peices that make up the center of the console. On the bottom part; where the radio and air vents are, I need to know how to properly remove the air vents from this peice so I can paint it without masking. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
