Default Quick fix?

Yes, there is a Hello Kitty band aid over the spot.

Just kidding

Simple questions!

To sand and repaint this part of the door, does this part come off? If so, is it hard to remove? Or do I have to take of the entire door panel? Will I still be able to drive?

Thanks in advance!!

it's easiest to take off the entire door panel, then mask off what you don't want painted.

you'll still be able to drive, and you could even take the switches out of the door and leave them hanging if you think you'll need them. otherwise you'll just have a metal door with 2 hanging wires.

one thought tho...

i'd suggest painting both door panels. having one coated in rubber and one not would look kinda weird i think.

of course, no one but you and us and any beetle owners might notice.

just a thought...

oh ya. and to remove the panel, there's 3 Torx 20 screws in the bottom lip and 2 philips screws behind the handle.

then you pull the bottom towards you so the snaps pop out and then lift up out of the window tray.

make sure you look at how it goes back in the window tray before you take it out too. i put mine back in the wrong way the first time i did it.
