Is it possible to take the speedo apart and swap out the face from a 2006 with an older beetle? I don't know how the speedo are made but I love the 06 version very classy

Yes and no. Each year's cluster is programmed for that year's airbag etc. so u'll get cel's. I guess it's possible to re-program the new cluster but u'd have to have the codes for the old airbag etc. (i.e it's probably not worth it).
