Post whore-ish threads

OK...I know I used to be a post whore but the majority of my threads didnt consist of counting to 1,000,000 (sorry Scott

), telling people "Where I am" (Sorry Marcia

)considering that if I am on the org then most likely I am in front of my computer at home or if someone has a laptop maybe somewhere else but most of the time it's no where exciting or telling people what I had for dinner every damn day (sorry to whoever started that one...Al I think. You know I love ya all and it's nothing personal) but do we really need the 1,000,000 posts thread? Wooo...we can all count! Well, maybe not all the time...even that gets screwed up. Or do we really need to know that someone is drinking water and eating crackers? I know this is just my opinion but there's gotta be people who agree with me. I dont post in threads just to get my post count up. I have alot of posts because there was a time when I had internet access at work and was able to be on 7 hours a day , 5 days a week. Maybe I'm being a little harsh with the "What are you eating/drinking/picking/sniffing/poking threads

but the 1,000,000 posts thread has got to go. There is no point to it. Its just a bunch of damn numbers. And obviously people are using it to get their post count up when they dont even wait for someone to post after them. They just keep posting # after # and writing one word in each post to make a whole page into one sentence. I did post on it when it was 1st started but now I realize how silly it is.

Anyway...just needed to get that out and Im curious as to how other people feel about these posts.

I agree on the counting thread. as far as the what are you eating thread, i actually like to see what others munch on.

It's not like I'm annoyed with the people who choose to post there I just think it's unecessary.

whats the male equivalent of a post whore? am I a post gigolo? escort? haha... reason I make tons of comments is I work out of the home so I have the Org open all day and can converse with all kinds of peeps

I don't necessarily agree with them. But the way the threads work is, when people stop 'playing' they sink to the bottom anyway.

It's not my job to say what is and isn't important. There's room for everything.

There's a few topics we do typically shut down. Like threads about (wow, I just hit the ##### rep mark!) or (wow, I just his the #### post count mark!)

But that comes and goes; we don't like them, because they simply encourage people to post in quantity (vs quality).

Understandable. I never expected anyone to get rid of em. It wouldnt be cool if threads got deleted just because some knucklehead (read:me)

said they were useless. Just wanted to share my opinion, is all.

I hope I didnt tick anyone off. That wasn't my intention.

Okay...where to start?

In no particular order:

The Internets is mostly to talk about your self, so it seems. We are all guilty of this; any MySpace peeps here? And frankly, I like knowing what the rest of the community is doing; it connects us.

I don't care about post counts; make 'em zero if ye want.

I have found good things to eat, and listen to from the threads...

Counting to a million may be silly, but what if we did it? That would go into some sort of record book, I'm reasonably sure...

I know you did not want to 'flame' anyone, but this ORG a long time ago turned into a community, and more then a plain Jane help site. Heck, we even have a Secret Santa list. And also, how many of us (myself included), have received gifts from otherwise complete strangers, due to this place?

The ORG is so much more to many then words can adequately describe. It's a oasis, a place that is reasonably family friendly, where you can kill some time, while working on other mundane tasks. It breathes, it lives, it provides sanctuary from the otherwise mean spirited sites out there.

Yes, there may be threads about nothing, but all put together, they mean something.

And that something is pretty rare, and special.

You're right TJ. I stand corrected. It would be cool if we all counted to 1,000,000 but its not the same if someone counts from 1,000 to 1,2000 ( i know Im exaggerating) by themselves all at once.

Anywho...I was just stating my opinion. I wasnt looking to piss anyone off. You gave me yours and that was all I wanted from anyone.
