Is there a particular reason why I can't post to this thread?

Because it was moved into the How-To section.
All those threads are closed for posting when they get moved there.
You can start a new thread that asks a question about that thread in the Technical Forum if you like.

I'm really beginning to dislike vBulletin. A locked thread shouldn't have a big button at the top and bottom. It should also say "This thread is locked" somewhere.

I say "locked" but what I really mean is the entire Forum is locked to everyone but a few Moderators.

The reasoning behind this is so we keep the How-To's fairly pure without off topic discussions. Some of these are better than others though.

If a Moderator asks a question in a locked thread, does it still make a sound?

Depends on if his mouse makes a click sound, and the age of his keyboard...

Oooohh... I love my 1987 IBM Model M - It's built like a tank! It has outlasted at least 6 computers... About a year ago I found the company that owns the patent, bought one of their new buckling spring keyboards so I wouldn't have to type on mashed potatoes at work... it lasted a week.
