All the p0rn0 posts in the photos section BE Gone!

I'm really getting sick of all the p0rn that ends up on the photos section. It seems like I report these posts and then another pops up right away. Don't get me wrong, I think the human body (esp. the female one!! ) is very pleasing to look at. But my kids are around when I post, and I don't expect them to have to see the titles of spammed p0rn links when I'm in a car forum...
And it's not even like it's GOOD p0rn, either!!!!

We take them down as soon as we see them.
If it looks like p0rn0...don't click on it.

You can help us out by reporting the post and the first mod that gets online after the report will remove the offending spam.
It's a constant battle at this point.

i report it as soon as i see it, too. the admins do a pretty good job of taking it down ASAP, but there's not much that can be done about how much shows up.

Isn't it possible to add a captcha or equivalent anti-spam solution (like NoSpam!) to the new user registration process?

understand your point, but in order to alert the mods you've got to click on it to get to the 'report bad post' button. a bit of catch-22.

don't know if it's possible to mod the forum software, but it'd be great if that kind of feature could be added to the thread index...allow folks at work to alert the mods without bringing 'action photos' up on their desktop at work or if they're at home in front of kids...

keep at it---know it's a pain in the ankle.

Most of the Porn Spam has been posting into the Photo section...for some reason.

I'd just be careful what you click on....if the title is fishy, and there are no responses, then I would play it safe if I was at work.

I've clicked on a couple at work, luckily no one was behind me when I did - so I know the shock feeling you guys get clicking on them at work.

(I know I catch 22'd, I was typing fast...I know you can't report a post without going into it...I was really meaning, if you want to help us out, report the thread if you area already inside the thread...if not, then don't go into any that look like porn. )

I always click the report bad link any time I come across one of those p()rn or spam threads. I think the mods are doing their best to keep up with it. One cannot expect those type of posts to be deleted immediately, unless a mod happens to be on at the time one is reported.

I have also noticed they are not always in the picture/photo forums. Sometimes they show up in any of the tech forums.

Apparently these spam-bozos think it's funny.

Not funny at all, and not appropriate for this forum! And there's plenty of free p0rn out there, why pay for it? I'm certainly not that gullible!!!!

If I wanted to see porn, there are millions of other websites I could go to. I don't understand why these peabrains are bothering us.

I try to take care of anything I see, as soon as I turn on my computer every morning, and late at night. It is the first thing I do, look for idiots here, spammer-wise....


Please bear with us. We are trying to remedy this issue.


The best thing to do is simple. Don't click on anything you think is a spammer.

I own a Forum for a Multiplayer Game.. We did allow anyone to register and start posting but we would get the same thing; porn, prescription drugs.. etc.

I eventually had to set it up where I had accept all new registered users but it's such a pain in the butt.

Before I made it where I had to accept all new users, I banned each email address that the user came from.. and it usually banned that whole company.

Another forum I belong to disallows web-based e-mail addresses as base for registration. You have to have an e-mail from your internet provider, which can be tracked back to you. I think that's a great idea, and their site has far fewer moderators, and NO spam.
On the other hand, I'd like to help out and apply to be a moderator on the .org. The main reason being that I seem to be on here very often in the wee hours, while no mods are on and spammers are running rampant. For some reason they like the night shift hours. Drop me a line, mods, if that'd help

We generally do an IP ban on all of the spammers that we catch, and ban their email addresses if it is a known spam domain

This is something that we are working on fixing, and hope to resolve soon. I beleive that a large part of it is that we are behind in our patches and hope to resolve that soon.

Like, I said.. I accept all new registered users and I just accepted a bunch and unfortunately, this one used a gmail.com account. Just 5 minutes later after accepting them, there is a dang post with buttholes and "stuff" on my Forum.

Not very nice.. and I have young people on my Forum. These companies make me so mad!!

Hey, don't take away the web based e-mails. I love my YAHOO account, because it deters SPAM for me.
