Default New content link ads and pop-ups

Anyone else finding these to be very annoying? I realize the bills need to be paid somehow...but this is getting a little too "in-your-face."

How much revenue do these ads generate? Could donating members be exempted from seeing such ads? How much of a donation would be fair to be exempted?

Or would it be possible for the ads to be disabled for forum members but not for visitors?

Just curious. If it gets anymore invasive people might start staying away. I wouldnt like to see this site turn into something like the vortex.

EDIT: Even my signature and the title of this thread are getting content links.

I'm really NOT trying to be argumentative here, but I have been to the vortex and I was NOT impressed. Please Don't make our home more like the vortex! You can ignore the links, you know - I do. I don't have a pop-up problem.

If you page through some threads, even this one, there are words that are underlined. When you hover over them, an ad pops up that relates (and that is a stretch) to the word. Try going to the thread about pet stories, you'll see in dvlbug's post that "body pillow" is underlined there.

...and now you took away your response. James, why you gotta make me look like a crazy fool?

I agree. I'm not expecting something for nothing, but these ads are annoying to a 'member sponsor'

They have been removed for MS, Mods and Admins. Sorry I'm testing out a bunch of things at the moment.

Consider yourself lucky

If you see a post with random words underlined and then you hover over them it pops up spam lists.... then you can consider yourself unlucky.

Are you using IE? Firefox? I could see why you arent getting them if you really want them.
