My vote goes for "show us your purses" thread.

I think what you are trying to say is that you would prefer to be able to view only VW related posts and not have to read things such as "show us your purses?"

That would be nice. Keep non vw threads out of the "new posts" list.
And I still think the purse thread sucks

I don't get it...if you don't like a thread then don't look at it. I thought that Misc Hoo Ha was the section for non-vw related topics? Unfortunately for you there are a lot of women here and with that comes talk of feminine things such as purses. IMO we shouldn't have be censored in that sense. You may find that thread stupid but there are a lot of people who would disagree with you.
There are threads that I think are useles so either I ignore them or if they're popular then I say "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" In your case I would suggest the first.

I am not looking at them. I ignore them. They don't need to be censored. Keep them! Girls need purses, I don't. I need vw info and vw related topics when I log on the .org. I don't think there are "stupid". I think they should not be on "new posts" list when I click on it. There are many great non vw related threads and I visit them often. I just wish I can surf vw related topics without having to know what kind of a purse you girls have.
This should not be an argument. This is a suggestion.

I'm not looking for an argument but you would have been better off wording your suggestion this way than you did the first way

It's cool. I got ya now. Personally, I just jump on here and go straight to the forums I frequent the most and see what's been posted. I'm not suggesting anyone do it that way because I've missed quite a fews posts/threads that way. That's just how I do it I'm lazy like that

I apologize ( deep bow with my hand on my hart, hat off as well ).
I admit, I am control freak and I like things to be organized.

No worries

I'm a tad sensitive (I hate that ) so sometimes I(read:usually) take things too personally

Not only that you have to keep your users coming back,That's how they get better ranking from the search engines. Well put, Buglover. Personally, if I have a really super technical question about my bug, I go do a search on tdiclub or the vortex, because it has most likely been covered there.

O, I am hanging. I am having a blast since I got Speedle and discovered this web community. My life will never be the same again!
I opened new post this morning ( that is the first thing I do every morning ) and there was at least 20 non vw related threads on top of the list. it's like, you want to go for a ride with your bug, but in order to do that you need to jump over 20 old Fords, or even worst, you have to test drive them!
Keep all non vw related threads, but keep them aside.

Tesla, I hear where you're coming from.

I'll look into it to see if we can have form a search-link that omits certain forums. Like using the Search feature, but having it already configured so you just press the "new beetle threads" link.

By making a non-VW related thread, aren't you just adding to the epidemic?

No he's not.

He created this thread at my request (he mentioned it in a different thread)

So that it could serve as a reminder to me to find out more about it and then do something about it.

I think that a number of people here would be happy to not have to see all the miscellaneous conversational threads that have popped up as we moved away from being a technical/car enthusiast site to a general hangout type site.

Once again, thanks for the self promotion.

Misc hoo-haa is fine.

There are ways that it can be setup so that people can opt-out of seeing it.

Just like you have to opt-in to see the hot topics areas.

Whether or not misc threads should be allowed, or should move someplace else is not at discussion here.

What is at discussion is the possibility of making it so that you dont have to see the threads if you do not want to.

Why would I want to join yet another site to chat with the people I can chat with here on a daily basis?

May be some sort of settings in personal preferences.
like, check out this box to hide all non vw related items or something like that.

If this is what we would do it would show up in your User CP under group memberships.

I'm more inclined to go over to a busier forum like http://offtopic.com/ then. But seriously, the idea of a custom search used by some people isn't impossible.

I'm not about to make hoo-ha, the STAPLE of this forum, the only reason this forum has survived 9 yrs, an opt-in. ... hmm, but were it automatically opted in.... (more like an opt-out forum)

Ahh. If it's a joke, why do you continue to promote it here over and over and over and over again?
