Default Add MP3 file type to upload list...?

I wanted to ask that MP3 files be added to the list of file types that can be uploaded and attached to forum messages.

I ask this so I/we can use the recording function of devices such as MP3 players and cell phones to record those "funny noises" that we occasionally have to try to describe in funny words, and then upload to the forum and yell for help.

Thanks.

To tell the truth I am hesitant to do this.

I think it would be abused by people uploading non-engine related MP3's and could lead to us being put on the radar to nefarious corporations out there.

Perhaps you could make it simply a streaming audio feed? I don't know what that would take to do, but it seems like maybe limiting users to 3 files, 1 minute long max, and keep it a streaming feed, not a download link. That should keep us off the radar, yes?

Sorry guys, nice idea, but hard to follow through.

I think it'd be best to use a 3rd party file sharing site to store those audio clips.

http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=file+sharing+site

A link to those sites from your thread would be completely acceptable.

Why not upload a video to youtube, ficker, or photobucket so we can hear the sound and also see the general area of where it is coming from? This is also a great idea so we could hear things like exhaust clips, cool/annoying engine noises, video how-tos, etc. Also, it does not take up this sites bandwith and make Crazy James really go crazy from illegally uploaded mp3 files/songs that have a copyright.

I second the idea of using YouTube.

Please do! There are only a handfull of NB videos... I've been trying to get a feel of how the 2.0 sounds stock, pre/post snowbox-ectomy, pre/post exhaust, and how it preforms 0-60 but non of that is available... On the Jetta and Passat, no problem finding anything! But NB? Nada [nothing].

Ok that works I guess. I've never uploaded to Youtube b4. I'm sure it will be a learning experience.

That is what I did when I replaced the cylinder head on my NB. It is normal for it to smoke and ping a little after you have installed a new cylinder head.

You can see and hear it here...

Good point. I didn't even think about bandwidth.

I third the notion of YouTube. Another benefit of that is that if we were to put a little "newbeetle.org" tag on our uploaded videos, it would be almost like a commercial for the site!

Another good idea! I just started finding some old NB videos from members here...

I just watched Elwood go around the block. Exactly what I was looking for! Now to find Elwood's owner... I remember seeing him here before...
