Default Ads on the org

Ok, I can usually just ignore whatever non-car related ads are all over the org now. I don't need a free quote for mortgage protection in case I die. I already have Proactive, but thanks for reminding me about my zits. I don't really need that creepy dating site.

But this morning, there was an ad that actually popped out and took up half my damn screen. It only took a few seconds to close it out, but it's the principle of the thing! Enough is enough. That crap needs to stop

I ignore them if they are in the corner.

I haven't had any pop out on me...if they do that, then that would be a nuecence.

I use adblock at work

And view them at home.

I dont care for the GM ads telling me to go buy a new GM when this is a VW website...

Hey Guys,

That is in no way intended or acceptable. Do you know what the ad was for? I'm going to try and track this down.

I just got an ad that said "You've won a free prize, click here to claim!"

These don't usually bother me, but when they make noise (the "ba-donk!" noise when you get an error in WinXP) it gets on my nerves a bit.

I have yet to see the half-screened one, though...

Ok, I just got another in-your-face ad. This is different from the one I had this morning, FYI.

And now for some reason, this page just randomly opened in place of the org. I didn't click on anything.

They've never been this bad, usually it's just that ad at the top of the page and like I said in my original post - I ignore it. But today has been a whole new level, unfortunately.

Default I have had no problems with ads

Of course now that you folks have gotten them, it will spread like wild fire and we'll all be infected.

I realize that this will not happen. I suppose I must have adblocker as well, but now come to think about it, I get those darn ads on some other websites that I visit.

Well so far I'm not affected by the problem on this site. I'm pretty certain the administrator of this site will rectify the problems.

To assauge any fears about infection etc...

I have been informed by the site owner that we have removed the particular ad network that was causing the popups.

That got me wondering.

I got infected by some malaware on Monday. Soon after one of the huge page covering ads. It took me about 4 hours to get it off my laptop.

It installed some malaware that "looked" like it was canning my laptop and finding tons of spyware, etc., and kept trying to get me to buy their license. I googled it and found it was a scam that would steal all your credit card info.

Was a pain in the ass to remove. Part of it was also a file iehelper.dll (stored in c:\windows\system32\) that would give me a microsoft security error any time I tried to go to a site. So it made searching for fixes. Thank goodness I was at home and was able to search on my desktop.

But now I'm wondering if this was all caused by these ads.

Pop ups are back AND some of them are talking to me. No I am not crazy... well maybe a little but, No REALLY. I just had one say "you have just won a Nintendo Wii!", In a female voice. I only get the pop ups and the weird talking on this site too. No where else. Okay, forget the talking, but PLEASE can we get rid of the ads? They are appearing in the same place as everyone else that has seen them has said. (in the upper right hand corner) Please, Please make it stop. LOL!

I have heard the Wii woman, and also heard a man telling me I have won a new laptop computer. It kind of startles me for a second until I shut off the speakers.
