Default Locking a thread when it goes way off topic

Some forums allow the originator and a moderator to "lock" a thread when they deem appropriate. One time this is of interest is when a thread goes off topic.

It looks like this platform only allow deletion of a thread.

How can you lock a thread, but not delete it?

I've seen threads closed on here before and not deleted but I think only Mods have that power. So if you want to close a thread, then I would PM a mod and have them close it.

Sounds like a good solution.

Just PM a mod and they can close it...or find someone who can if they can't.

Instead of PMing a mod, I would click on the report button and ask them to lock it there.
