Mark, you (and several others) were one of the real highlights of my weekend in BC. Before we met, I was already amazed at your ability to produce these awesome maps, and how helpful you were in my "catching up" on the latest info once I found out I was going on the trip. I was so happy that meeting you was even better than I expected. Wish we'd had more time to shoot the breeze, but there is next year! My copilot, Mary, was impressed with you, as well. As good as all that is...Farrah blew me away. She's gorgeous and it was fun learning about the convertible top and her other features. KD Bug loved her new "gal pal" and I must say that the pics were great!! Thanks so much for everything

Well, I finally got a response from Mr.Zion at the Smoky Mountain Times with the article. Kinda disappointed since the file is pretty much unreadable. I'll post it here and if anyone wants a copy PM with an e-mail addy and I'll forward it to you. Maybe somebody with skills can make something out of it. On the upside, he mentioned that they keep hard copy records (the paper itself) for 2 years and when we're back there next May, we can stop by and purchase copies.

On another note, as soon as I have artwork for ToD 2k11 (nudge, nudge ), I'll start a new thread and have the mods lock this one.

Here's the gist of it from what I can tell:

"There were (?) Volkswagen New Beetles in this parking lot and still more [Obscured--coming? On the side of the road?]. More than (?) people from 14 different states [obscured--maybe converged?] on Bryson city over the weekend to show their New Beetles and cruise the Tail of the Dragon. Even Organizer Gary [Obscured...your last name, but I don't know how to spell it. ] said last years innagural [obscured-cruise? Event?] was on Mother's day Weekend. The group now plans to hold the event every year on the first weekend in May."

the rest of the text is dealing with the picture of the Minis.

Yeah, it would be nice to have a higher-resolution picture...I think he needed a wide angle lens!

This year's art will be a bit more freehand. The only clipart element will probably be the nB itself and the text for the dates. Everything else: Matillda, the TOD Font and background will be all freehand. That's Matillda the Dragon BTW... Not her official name, but there you are

The swag REORDER will be expedited in a quick manner. Due to last minute orders, there was a shortage on a couple of items (oversold) and I MUST fulfill these orders. I openly apologize for this screw up and those parties will be PM'd and will be comp'd a free t-shrit in addition to your order.

Be it known from this point forward...
All orders placed, with payment beyond deadline dates will not be accepted. Sorry to be a horses rump, but I feel like a horses rump by not fulfilling orders as promised. I strive to be a man of my word and when my word is breached, I take shame in that.

As Gary has said before and I totally echo his sentiments and truth... We are all adults. The TOD is an event designed around advance planning- in every aspect of the event. The TOD 2k11 thread will be online very soon- almost a whole year of not only pumping it up, but advance planning. If you fail to plan, plan to fail- TOD-wise. We want to accommodate everyone, hence the advance planning. govern yourselves accordingly.
