Cool Changes to your car for 2k10 ToD?

I was thinking, in preperation for the 2k10 cruise, who plans to have things changed on their car, upgrades or otherwise?

I'm hoping (fingers crossed):

Spoiler painted and installed
Tint
Cross drilled rotors
Painted calipers
Painted dash pieces
POSSIBLY new struts and the such...mine are old and wearing out
New VW emblems front and back
(and probably in that order too...)

Plus my vanity plate will be in sometime in July so I'll have that as well.

That's all I think that I will actually get accomplished...Besides the fact at my TDI GTG I'm getting a mufflerectomy (like sully's ), ventectomy (which you won't see), and replacing my cabin filter and the such. I will change my tranny fluid as well, but that's not a visual mod.

Anyway, I've rambled on enough, what else do you think you might change before the 2k10 ToD???

1. New armrest installed
2. Spoiler
3. Monsoon indash CD player (instead of the changer)

Of course this is my "wish list".

1. Engine's going to run.
2. Sparco Seats Installed.
3. Sabelt Restraints.
4. Used OEM Axles.
5. New Throttle body.
6. New Intake manifold.
7. New Intake manifold gasket.
8. New valves/springs/seals.
9. I'm contemplating leaving the door panels as-is.

That's my plan anyway.

There's one mod I want to get done specifically for the ToD: I plan to get a video camera and either buy or build a headrest mount so that I can take video of the drive.

Other than that, here's the current revision of my "it'll get done eventually, once I can afford it" repairs & mods list:
  • paint Take 5 inserts (before Asheville TDI GTG next weekend)
  • adjust RC tune for less smoke (Asheville)
  • new center dash piece w/non-broken air vents (Asheville)
  • get clutch to stop grinding (Asheville)
  • diagnose (and maybe fix) A/C (Asheville)
  • paint and install fiberglass headliner
  • find/make black sun visors (I need to start a thread to ask about this one...)
  • boost/EGT/oil pressure(?) gauges w/Bernt pod
  • turbo-back exhaust (or at least a downpipe) by Savage Diesel (a.k.a. "LurkerMike," a local TDI club member who's been painstakingly developing a mandrel-bent exhaust for TDIs for over a year now)
  • 2006+ center console
  • brakes (maybe just pads, or maybe upgrade to 312mm)
  • suspension (new bushings/bearings/etc., Koni or Bilstein shocks, either stock or Turbo S springs)
  • intake plumbing (PD150 manifold, FMIC or bigger SMIC, pipes, 3-bar MAP sensor)
  • VNT 17/22 hybrid turbo & upgrade to RC5 or 6
(Everything after the gauges or so isn't all that likely to get done by next year. )

get new tires on the GTI rims, and get those back on the car...figure out what to do with the stock wheels.

install new downpipe/catalytic converter...get rid of the !@#$%^&*(
exhaust rattle once and for all.

probably time for the ECS clutch kit too.

Probably nothing. I really want another TurboS and Denise wants another NBC so we'll both need to make compromises. We also have this house for sale and plan on building an "alternative" home out of a new quonset hut.
Of course the car part hinges on me getting a job, something I haven't had since May 7th 08. The house plans march on either way. So keep posting away folks, and I'll keep track of all the upgrades.

I didn't mean to go of topic but since you mentioned the roundness, I guess it's ok
I'll just add one more note about the quonset hut. The style we've chosen to build does not have straight sides since we're not including a 2nd floor but the arc will begin at the ground. So, keeping on the subject of beetles, we're planning a second one and keeping it open ended to be used as a drive thru garage.

Now back to our regularly scheduled mod topic

Sweet!!! I like it a lot! And do I see Dalton, GA on the picture? Does that mean your moving to GA? That'd be pretty sweet!

No worries about being off topic. Just kinda a discussion thread about whatever. Just tryin' to keep people thinking about the ToD!

No, not moving to Ga We'll build here in Aiken but in the county. Looking at a 1600 Sq Ft 40 X 40 unit that will give us 22 feet to the top of the arc. There is no need for spporting structure due to quonset design so the interior will be wide open space. We will build 8' high walls for the bedroom and 2 baths for a semblance of privacy but the rest will be open. I used to work for a commercial glass company so both ends will be floor to ceiling storefront glass. The front glass wall will be set back 8 feet so it'll provide a huge 40'X 8' covered porch. I have it all drawn out to scale. Just need a buyer for this place before I order up the hut and hand out prints to my subs for slab, elec & plumbing. The hut we'll use for the garage will not be on a slab, at least not initially to save on cost. It'll be crushed gravel. It certainly won't be grandma's old farm house. And to stay on topic, there'll be at least one nB and hopefully one oB parked inside

well, that is darn neat. I've been pondering the possibility of a dome house, but that design is neat too. (well, i'd really love an old brick building\warehouse\etc, but those are hard to come by.. booo!) what kind of insulation quality does that structure have, though? doesn't look like much\any in the pictures. that'd be kind of sucky.

anyways.. my list includes:
  • clear coat over finished paint job
  • install all the suspension parts i already have (sway bars\strut brace)
  • new suspension bits - either Koni FSDs or KYB setup... mounts.. bushings.. etc.

These pics are of a seasonal home in Pa and the owner has not yet insulated. Generally a closed cell spray on foam is what gets used for year round residences. That is what we'll use. These are also easier to put up than a geodesic dome.

1) H A V E a beetle

2) Window Tint
3) Stubby Antenna
4) K&N
5) HID Kit (5000k-6000k)
6) Spoiler

Pretty much, all just depends on what beetle I get and what it already has and needs first. I think I'd rather replace a WaterPump and Timing belt before I do any of the above... Well maybe not including the cheap stubby antenna.... The standard radio tower up there is RIDICULOUS!!
