Cool! So far you are the closest NB owner on this forum to me. I live on the west side of SA just inside loop 1604. Sometimes I take road trips to Bandera and Kerrville via 1283. Maybe you'll see me sometime.

Hi Salsa Man, we are planning to leave for the TOD the Wednesday before that weekend. I have not made any reservations yet, but will start looking. We live right off of FM 1283 in the Pebble Beach subdivision. We have 3 New Beetles. A 2000 silver with flames, and recently supercharged. A 2002 Snap Orange Turbo, and a 2004 NBC Turbo, yellow with black top. I have probably met you. I have been to all of the Roswell 2K shows, Texas VW Classics, and active with VOSA in San Antonio.

HAHAHA, I already have you down on our attendance list as lodging at the Sleep Inn in Downtown Bryson City as per Cueball I thought your name sounded familiar so I went back thru old PM's and found one from Earl where he listed you, as well as 4 or 5 other folks in the "OFF" club as attending.

Thanks vwgary, I did not realize that Cueball Earl had taken care of this, but it is a good thing. Earl and I are planning to cruise back from the TOD to San Antonio. Earl has relatives here. If you live in the area and also if Salsa Man wants to, we could all come back together.
We will be having an OFF car club meeting at the TOD. This club was founded by Earl. We had our first meet this past June in Roswell.

I'm not sure if Earl took care of the lodging, so you'd best check in with him. The Ridge Top is booked and the alternate lodging is the Sleep Inn in downtown Bryson City.

Nah we haven't met. The only VW event I've ever been to was the one VOSA put on a few months back on Broadway. I didn't enter my NB to show - all I saw there were air cooled. Figured VOSA was for AC only.

Not sure what day I will leave for TOD yet. I won't be coming back with anyone because I will be spending the week after TOD visiting my sister in Spartanburg South Carolina.

Hi Sue, we look forward to seeing you at the TOD. I just e mailed Earl about hotel reservations that I think he started making. We are going to leave here early the Wednesday before and get there Friday afternoon. Let's get together. Connie can't get off until Wednesday, so it will be a quick trip up there. I hope the weather is OK.

My original plans were to join up with John (SixChuter's) carabug somewhere in Arkansas or Tennessee along I-40. However, I have a work related event that may prevent me from participating in any carabug. I'll know for sure as the time gets closer. Whatever route I'll need to follow, I want to plan to be at Bryson City around noon time like some others are planning. I want to be able to relax a bit and get a good night's sleep before Saturday since I will have no co-pilot. That means I will probably have to leave San Antonio on Wednesday the 28th.

But the rest of you South and Central Texans should get together to carabug - and start planning it NOW - regardless of what I am going to have to do.

I know Salsa-man and Cameron_Talley are planning on hooking up with John (Sixchuter) in Oklahoma somewhere. Looks like you won't be driving solo for very long

I posted on the other thread, but as I mentioned on the first page - we are still planning on heading out a week ahead of time and hitting stuff on the way and around then sprinting back to Dallas for Monday.

Bryson City, NC to Texas in one day is indeed ambitious

John (SixChuter) is leaving Tulsa Thursday AM and driving to Murfreesboro, TN, then driving on in to Bryson City Fri. I plan to drive from San Antonio early Wed morning and staying over night in Little Rock. Then, hopefully, meet up with John in Little Rock as he comes thru and carabugging with him the rest of the way. Since I will be driving the whole way, I have to break this up smartly so I get enough sleep for the drive the next day. Don't want to end up in a ditch 'cause I fell asleep at the wheel.

It's insane and dangerous unless you got other drivers to help out.

Maybe we are taking two days...I can't remember...know there was a discussion about not eating into that week for something work related. Basically we are getting up early Sunday morning and heading out.
Didn't really mean that we would go the entire distance in one day's drive.
