Well, I don't have a FSR or FRS or TomTom. I may can pick one up before the trip. I have a cell phone! Had a TomTom last year when Molly and I went to Gulf Shores. That thing had me going every way but the right way. In fact, going thru Mobile, it showed me some crazy way to go to come back to Memphis that got us stuck in a really bad part of town. The police saw us and escorted us out of there and told us not to come back. go figure!

Just got back from Academy. I purchased a set of FRS/GMRS radios this evening. 35 mile range baby! Yeah I know, I'll be lucky to get a half mile outta them.

These are Motorola 355R's . I got 'em cause they can take rechargeable batteries or "aa" batteries and you can use any ol' USB charger for the car to keep them charged up. They have some other bells and whistles like they can automatically tune into NOAA weather stations in the area and automatically warn you of weather alerts. I prolly coulda gotten some cheaper ones but.....I admit I am big gadget geek.

Those radios will prove quite handy over the years! My mom and I have used ours dozens of times on road trips where we take both cars.

Gotta love the gadgets Mark

Weather alerts huh???..... Maybe they can guide me out of the fog

I like the fact you can use regular batteries or rechargeable ones as well as the USB. A buddy of mine has a pair of FRS he'll let me borrow, but if my money stops looking funny, I might have to look into these

Well this is just the carabug map for the westerners and anyone who wants to join in along the way. The big national map that I posted in the main TOD thread has all the folks on it - just not the routes or carabugs they are taking. Unfortunately. it's too much info to cram into the map and it still be readable. I'll look at the other carabug threads and see if there's enough info there to create additional carabug maps.

OH I almost forgot - I ordered Farrah's bra on Monday for the TOD trip. Also got mirror covers too. Bra hould be here by Fri. Mirror covers are backorderd. Its high time she stop going around without a bra. I can't get the bug guts off fast enough to prevent paint damage.

OH NO, A BRA!!! I WANNA BRA!!!!!

And, I love tin foil! I want a tin foil hat!!! Say, do you have a battery powered tin foil hat? One time when I worked at the police department, we kept getting this crazy lady calling me at work saying there were demons in her bathroom. I told her to wrap her head with tin foil but be sure to leave holes to see and breathe. Go in the bathroom, stick her finger in the toilet and flush away those little demons.
