Default To all Texans (TOD Carabug thread)

Howdy fellow Texans! Anybody out there besides me planning on going to TOD2K10? I will be driving from San Antonio north on I35 to I30 and hopefully meet up with SixChuter and any caravans coming from the west in or near Little Rock AR. Anyone interested in caravan'ing for the ride up to LR?

Hey thats cool. I know it's early but just wanted to throw something out there. and to really see if any other Texans are going at all. Where are all the Texans anyway? I don't see too many on this board and yet we're the 2nd most populous state in the union? Is it just the SUV phenomenon of TX? I don't know about y'all but I don't see too many NB in San Antonio.

Feelin' like the lone ranger.....

Think there were a couple bugs from SA area at Roswell. Pissant is a flamed silver nb...I think he is involved with the local VW club...aircooled/watercooled.
We are planning on doing the Texas Classic in the Fredricksburg next April...surely you can meet some VW folks there.

How in the world did I not know about the TX VW Classic??!? It's on the Calendar for next year!

As for Tail of the Dragon, It is very doubtful that I can make it as May is the busiest Month for me at work...

Edit: Actually....I now have permission from the Boss to take vacation for ToD. So I should be going as well. I'm coming from Waco and would be interested in whatever Carabugs we come up with....

Woo hoo! Cool! I am planning on hooking up with SixChuter somewhere in Arkansas or wherever he overnights at. So I'll be coming right thru Waco on the way up. Maybe we can carabug.

So now that you're goin' you should think about joining me. I think we might pick up a few others on the way up 35. So how is the bug? Is it going to make it?

i hope so, i need to get the front bearings done, get the tranny serviced, get the brakes done and maybe fix a few oddball things, if i can get the majority of those things done it should be roadworthy, i used to put around 500 miles a week on that thing and it held up pretty good so hopefully she's got this trip left in her.

i was going to ask you if you wanted to join up some place local and hit the road when its time, google said it was about a 18-20hr 1200-1400 mile trip depending on which route we took. so if you want we can start from san antone and hit it to meet up with the other peeps. since its only an hour away. lmk.

Absolutely. Hope your bug can get some TLC to make it. BTW, the shortest route there is across I10 to I59 but there isn't anyone to carabug with (so far) in that direction. Anyway, I want to join up with SixChuter somewhere in Arkansas. It's only about 70 miles further to take that northern route across Tennessee.

I-10 E
1,214 mi18 hours 52 mins
I-20 E
1,244 mi19 hours 11 mins
I-40 E
1,425 mi22 hours 11 mins

the 10 route goes through lower Louisiana and beyond, the 20 route goes through upper Louisiana and the 40 route goes through oklahoma and arkansas, so even though it adds over 200 miles it still gives the best option to meet up with more peeps.

I thought you lived in SA. My bad.

From my house to Bryson City:
I10/I59 - 1158.2 mi
I35/I20/I59 - 1195.6 mi (+ 37.4 mi)
I35/I30/I40 - 1215.7 mi (+ 20.1 mi)

diff b/t I10 and I40 routes = 57.5 mi thats according to Google maps
