Talking The "Official" 2K10 ToD Name Tag Thread

Hey everyone!!

So! Yes I am starting this thread early but with all this excitement for the ToD 2010, it's hard to resist!!

The "Official" 2K10 ToD Name tags will look like the pics posted below (the below ones are SAMPLES and if I used your name/beetle for the "idea" it can still be altered to your liking.)

I have also added a "what to put on" picture

Name
Where ya from
Screen name or Co-pilot
Picture of your beetle
Your Avatar and or whatever other embellishments you would like to add.

These name tags are lanyard, "backstage pass" styled name tags.

There is NO hurry in getting these Name Tags done, so if you are still modding/painting/buying a new beetle then whenever you feel you have the perfect picture of your beetle, of how it will look at the 2K10 ToD is the time to submit your Name Tag request to me.

We will be having name tags for everyone that is attending the 2K10 ToD, so if you have your Spouse/BF/GF/Friend/Kids/Furry kids attending with you, they can be done!!

If you have any opinions on what else should be added please be sure to post them here!! Thanks again and I can't wait to meet you all at 2K10 ToD!!

My thoughts:
  1. Neat idea!
  2. They're kinda big... I'd prefer credit card/business card-size ones. For instance, the ToD cruise logo could be moved to the other side (it's also going to be on our T-shirts, after all...)
  3. All the pictures need to be at least 300dpi (after shrinking) or else they'll look pixelated when printed out. (You probably already knew this, but others providing pics for their tag might not.)

Shonnel, again I love these things!! Makes me feel all special and such because it's like haveing an exclusive back stage pass! lol Have you decided whether or not it'll be the same on both sides? Might be helpful just in case someone's tag get's turned around.

I like the idea of smaller tags as well, but the problem we'd run into is those who don't read small print well. And no I'm not picking on the older crowd that's coming, I actually have a hard time reading small print, especially if it'll have our car on it, title, name, screen name and all that. Tooo busy on too little space. I say keep the size, it's nice and will look cool hanging from the rear view mirror when we're done

I'll give you a more updated pic for Probie when we get closer to the date. I'm hoping for tint and I know I'll have my spoiler on by then. So he'll look a little different. But so far, LOVE it!!

Here's a quick mockup of what I was thinking (note that the proportions of the text could be rearranged some more, and that it's blurry because I cut up the sample pic you posted).

By the way, what is that Indiana Jones-esque font you used? It was a good choice! (Certainly better than any fonts I have...)

They look awesome.
I don't have any issue with the actual size - but what are the actual dimensions of the name tag?

Well the actual dimensions are 4X6 and I can make them 3X5. I'll play around with the sizes tomorrow. (Today is my hubby's bday)

I did take pics of some of our previous passes from the different events that we've done and I also had the b-day boy model one of the samples I made for ToD, just so you can get an idea of the size again.

Grant it, these may be a hair big but it's not like you are wearing a poster board around your neck plus it does make a wonderful keepsake.

I like the current size too. If it's any smaller, people will have to come up close and read it. Not that I don't love you all but the name tag should be easy to read....

not horrible, but i'd say 3x5 might be better. probably wouldn't have the shrink the text size of the names at all, i wouldn't imagine. they seem to have a lot of empty space around them

Shonnell,

They are fine the way they are. You want them to be big enouph to read without getting in someones personal space just to get there name.

They also will be harder to loose when they are that big..

There will be no question who is in our group if they are that large.

You could always put a poll up on the size but I think they are just fine the way they are..

Marc

I've got old tired eyes. I agree with Marc and vote for the current version.

Well, sounds like I'm out-voted!

I'd still prefer 3x5 though (or whatever size that green one and anime one are in your picture), especially if the proportions could be tweaked to reduce the text size less than the tag overall.

X7 - trifocals don't even help sometimes. I prefer the large print Reader's Digest version. (Current size version)
