Georgians Unite!!! (ToD Carabug Thread)

To my fellow Georgians,

Let's work on a place to meet up and travel to the ToD. I know the Florida folks are coming up and we're gonna ride up with them. I don't know if anyone from S.C. or elsewhere would meet up or not, but if so let me know.

Alright folks. Where can we be centrally located? Last year I think we took 985 up to the Tod, which was great since we stopped off at Chipotle in Buford before going up there. So, does that work for everyone? Any other suggestions?

The route we took last year was cool with me Michelle- good times!

Chipolte was a good place to eat as well, with a great parking lot to take a few pics.

We'll be in close contact with you all as well as dropping our cell#'s your way. If there's anything I can do Michelle, just let me know.

We have a couple of new attendees coming from the east. If the timing is right, we'll meet them along I40 west in NC. If it doesn't work, we're seriously considering heading west on I20 and hooking up with you guys. I am very doubtful Sully & Patrice will be joining us this year and we'd like to ride along with others.

I know they have 2 places, a farm in Jackson and a house in North Augusta but I don't have an address for either. I'll attempt another e-mail and try digging around for a phone number for him.

Well, Sully PMed me on the TDI club not too long ago. Let me see if I can reach him there. Not sure what's up. Though I think if we keep on him we're bound to find out. I hope he can make it cause man, his rear fog sure was helpful in the Skyway...lol

As far as I know, Jack and Nikki are ok. They just bought a house. I'll be meeting up with Jack soon, he has some parts he brought back for me from the TDI GTG this weekend.

ALSO, heard from Sully. He's not sure him and his wife will be making the ToD. His father in law is real sick and they don't know what's going to happen. I told him we understood but still held out hope that him and the wife could make the GTG. Wouldn't be the same without him, but family comes first!

Michelle, you'ld you please let him know that we REALLY CARE about He and Patrice and he is missed here. Also His presence is not only missed here but needed. Friends miss one another and need friends; and the company of good friends can be the best tonic sometimes.

Please let Him know that His father-in-law and their family are in my prayers.

absolutely, I told him he was missed here. And also invited him to the GA gtg, but haven't heard anything yet. Kinda mad I didn't go to the TDI GtG cause he was there. Hopefully we'll see him again soon.

We've been involved in automotive organizations for decades, from Corvettes to streetrods and everything in between that has wheels and rolls. This is the 1st group of folks that while occasionally disagree, are here for the New Beetle cause and all else is secondary. It's a nice thing

Just a reminder that Bob (Raff) and his wife have put together a ToD warm up cruise on some twisty roads for early arrivers on Friday afternoon. Not sure if the Florida/Georgia contingent are planning on getting there early enough. Michele or Al can confirm.

It is my desire to be there for the early twisty run, but i'm not sure- Michelle and I will tighten up our itinerary and give you a more concrete arrival time. I'll be happy to just be there much earlier than last year.

Thats why we've been planning since last May... PLENTY of time to plan and still quite a bit left! Besides, I know you're going to be there. You have a Vert, and its orange, so it has to be there so NO ands Ifs OR buts!

How early is the ToD Friday run? I know from Atlanta it's but a few hours, I just know the ride for the Florida folks isn't all that short. I've been to Savannah (which is still ... what? 2 hours from Al's house?! Something like that) and it takes a good bit. Specially now with the Georgia "Super Speeders Law". No more driving over 85mph on that little highway with nearly NO gas stations...let alone diesel stations! lol (can you tell I learned the hardway?)

Let me know. I don't know about everyone else, but I have no issues leaving earlier. We can save the site seeing for the ride home. Matt had even suggested we leave Thursdayso we can be in Bryson City first thing on Friday. Which is fine with me, but then again...I don't have to ask for time off! So, you know.

We have but a few months folks. Find your ducks and put them all in a row! ToD will be here before we know it!
