Post Official ToD checklist!!

Ok guys, here is a checklist that I have come up with to help everyone pack for the upcoming event. If you feel something is missing, please add to it and I will try to update the first post as often as humanly possible....as we all know we are all busy gearing up for the ToD....and sometimes we forget! So, without further ado....here is the checklist.

Things to bring for ToD

Clothes for however many days you'll be there. It'll be warm so bring shorts and tanks as well....

Toiletries
-tooth brush
-toothpaste
-comb/brush
-hair styling products (hairspray, gel, flat iron, blow dryer, etc)
-make-up
-deordorant
-shampoo/conditioner (can't remember if the hotel had any last time or not....)
-special items (contacts, solution, facial wash/cream, etc)

Comfortable driving/walking shoes.

2-way Radios. We'll be using channel 6...

GPS/road maps/tour guides. Don't forget the charger for the GPS either or atleast extra batteries. Would hate for someone to get lost!!

Folding chairs of some kind. There will be lots of folks gathering and I don't think there will be enough seats to accommodate everyone. So plan accordingly.

Cell phone & charger and Bluetooth & charger. Let's keep talking hands free and driving safe

Camera(s)
-batteries
-charger
-memory
-case

Camcorder
-batteries
-charger
-memory
-case

Computer (if you choose)
-charger
-case

Medications (Rx and over the counter). It is heavy pollen season right now, so make sure if you are allergic to that stuff, bring Benadryl or Mucinex or whatever so you don't suffer.

Umbrellas. It is still spring....last year ToD it DID rain. This year it might as well.

Cooler/snacks/water. It's a long trip. There aren't always gas stations around to stop at and even if there are.. I don't know if they can handle the volume of sales we would create, so please be prepared.

Car wash products
-towels
-window cleaner
-leather cleaner
-sponges
-rainx
-bug-off
-wax
-quick detail
-tire shine
-interior cleaner
Whatever you choose to bring. You may just want to touch your car up, or you may want a FULL detail. Whatever. If you bring it with you, you won't be without!

Spending cash/quarters. Car washes only take quarters...might be good to have.

iPod/MP3. Some kind of music. I'm sure on your trip here you'll want it and maybe while cruising the dragon as well. Make sure to bring it's charger too!

Emergency items.
-Jumper cables
-flashlight
-air pump
-air pressure gauge
-fix a flat
-small tool kit (just in case)
-jack
-lug wrench
-oil
-G12
-spare tire
You may not need any of these items while on the trip. But I do know that last year, had it not been for Matt (over)packing the car, we would not have had the air pump and I think a few people needed it because their pressure was low.

That's all I can think of at this moment. You may need different things depending on the length of your trip and what not.

***Gasser NB's, I have been informed that Saturday morning, you should start with a FULL tank of gas. Given the amount of driving and fuel economy, it would be wise to have as much as possible from the beginning. Like I said, there aren't always gas stations near by!!

***TDI's....depending on how far you have to drive to get there.....you may or maynot need to fill up at all over the weekend. There is a Shell station at the bottom of the hill by the Ridge Top. Diesel is available there! But don't count on it everywhere, as I'm sure you all know how scarce Diesel can be....

If you know of anything else to be added, let me know, I'll update the list as needed.

Please check my most recent thread, as it has things to inspect on your car prior to leaving as well. We want everyone to have a safe trip and hopefully this will aid in that.

I would add a flashlight. I keep one in the car at all times anyway. You never know when you might need it.

(actually mine is a Burlington Northern Railroad lantern. But I suppose a regular maglight will do. )

Top of the Morning to you!!!!

We probably need to get an air pump. Any suggestions on one that will work more than one time?

I bought a cheap one at Wal-Mart several years back that plugs into the car's 12V power outlet. It's noisy as heck but it works just fine.

I would advise against getting the kind that only runs on rechargeable battery power. (had that kind before). Chances are, when you need it, the battery is going to be dead.

Agreed. Matt has one that plugs into the power outlet in the car. Small, portable...loud as all get out, but does the trick and for as little as it is...it's pretty fast. Check walmart or AutoZone or something!

LOL! I've bought two in one year. I got one that was loud as heck, worked a few times and then quit. Then I got another one and it worked about twice and then it quit. Guess I'll just go get another cheap one and hope it works more than twice. LOL!

Also going to add, please do a pre-check inspection on the car before you leave. Make sure of the following:

Oil is full
Coolant is full
Wiper fluid is full (or at least mostly full)
Check wiper blades to make sure they are working properly and not leaving streaks in your line of vision
Fuel is full (well duh!)
Check belts and hoses
Inspect driving conditions prior to leaving. Feel for any bumps, squeaks, squeals, etc that don't seem normal.
Check tire pressure before leaving as well, preferably when tire is cold (let it sit over night and check it before the car EVER moves...you'll get the best reading.)
Check lights. Headlights, brake lights, blinkers, etc

That's all I can think of for now. I know it seems silly to check all this since it's been working for x amount of time. But usually (at least for me) before any trip, SOMETHING always goes wrong or burns out. Nothing like driving down the highway with bugs scattered across your windshield and not having wiper fluid to clean it off a little.

Ok, well, some of you are leaving in a matter of days so....drive safe! See ya soon!
