I'm not quite ready to create the ToD 2K11 thread. Still basking in the glow An issue has arisen that it will coincide with Mothers Day again. We went around with this after 2K09 and thought we were safe with the 1st Saturday in May. I guess that is not so because if we do that, the ToD will be 5/6,7&8 with Sunday, May 8th, 2K11 being Mothers day. So, I'll need some input. We did state "forever cast in stone" as the 1st Saturday in May. Do we move the date?

I say leave it as is, or if you do move it pick another "safer" weekend and keep that. (maybe the last weekend in April)
It is much easier for folks to plan if they know the date even years in advance.

Agreed David. That was why we set that day as "forever". We're ok with keeping it but lets see what we get for input. Thanks for your response

I think that Father's Day was part of the discussion for Roswell also. If I do make it to ToD next year my mom will be with me. Keep it the way it is - you may lose a few, gain a few.

I'm okay with either weekend.

For what it's worth -- the Minis are scheduled for (Wed) April 27th - (Sun) May 1st.
They apparently use the 1st weekend, not the 1st Saturday as their criteria.

It looks like once we get Past Mothers Day 2K11 it won't interfere with the ToD again till 2K16. I'll wait for more feedback tho.

Last year, when I returned home from ToD I was still able to do some Mother's Day stuff. Now granted I live only a few hours away from ToD. I like it the way it is, easy to remember! But the First WEEKEND might not be a bad idea either....I just think that would be harder to remember. Kinda like Easter...I NEVER know when that is going to be until like weeks before it happens because it's ALWAYS changing. That's why something like the first Saturday works best.....but that's just my two cents

Apparently this First Saturday in May has been established now. As with any day or weekend chosen, there will always be conflicts. Staying with the FSM, the date is always known and plans can be easily made in advance.

All hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Although it seems that the First Saturday in May has been blessed by his noodley appendage, either way works for me.

Keep it on the first weekend. Easier to remember and makes for a great mothers day gift. Hey ma, I get to turn your hair white by taking high speed turns, woohoo!! Ooh! I could have my mom as co-pilot! Hhhmmmm.

No, really. Any moms with Beetles or family with Beetles will understand missing the occasional moms day.

We've established the "first Saturday" as the day and I think we should stick with it.

I am with the rest of the gang; keep as is so we will always know the dates we are planning for.

BTW, when your car gets smacked by the Flying Spaghetti Monster, it's a bugger to clean off!
